Are you struggling with no-shows on consultations? Do prospects send you a message from your website but then never respond when you reach out to schedule an appointment?

The root of this problem is the contact page on your website.

We are all very familiar with the basic contact forms on websites - the ones that ask for your name and email with a box to type out a message.

Those forms do not work...

Here's why:

You are forcing your prospect to go cold by requiring them to send you a message with no instant feedback. They do not know when they will hear back from you with an appointment email. By the time you reach out, they are no longer interested or found another firm that could schedule with them quicker. If you are lucky, they might still be interested, but now you have to go through multiple emails to set a consultation appointment.

So how do you fix the problem?

Simple... Use an automated appointment scheduling software.

Appointment scheduling software like Calendly and Acuity are incredibly useful because they allow the user to book an appointment immediately at a time that is convenient to them and to you!

By integrating the software directly on your site, users can schedule a consultation without having to feel the pressure of calling or emailing you, or worse, having to send you a message through a website form that says "thanks, we will reach out as soon as possible".

The software can even link to other calendars that you may use to make sure they show users only the times when you are available. They also make it very easy to set up your availability and customize the information prospects have to fill out.

You can still include the basic contact message form on your website, however, it should be used only as an added bonus to the software.

Appointment scheduling software is a no-brainer. Stop wasting your time and energy setting up appointments over email and stop losing warm prospects to an old contact page.

Remember, you want to reduce the steps a prospect has to take from interest to purchase.

Are you scared of starting a paid advertisement campaign?
we don't blame you if you are. The thought of potentially losing money on ads that may or may not bring in leads is daunting. Even if the ads do bring leads, what if they don't convert!

This is why it is important that you start running ads when the time is right for your firm.

Well, how do you know when the time is right?

The time to start running ads is when you are already receiving business from other sources, or in other words, start running ads when your firm already has a steady stream of clients.

Many times, firm owners think that ads are like a faucet that they should turn on only when they need water (clients). This is the opposite of what owners should be doing. The best use of advertisements is when you are receiving income from previous clients that you can turn around and use to reinvest back into your advertising budget.

Ads should be consistently running in the background so you are never scrambling and relying on them to find clients. Waiting to turn your ads on until you are in dire need of your clients is a great way to ruin your success as you are more likely to be weary of your spending and are less likely to invest enough time and money to let the ad perform the way it is supposed to.

Don't make the same mistake most firm owners make with advertising. Waiting until ads are a last resort for finding clients and then giving up when the ads don't perform is a guaranteed path to failure with ads.

Start funding your ad spend when your firm is generating enough income to invest in a strong advertisement budget.

How important is your firm's website? Many firms lose potential clients simply because they don't have a website, or because their website is not user-friendly.

Here are some reasons your firm needs a quality website:
1. Search engine ranking
2. Paid advertising landing page
3. Convert online leads into sales
4. Schedule consultations
5. Rank high in local searches
6. Boost credibility and experience

The problem lies primarily in the ease of use of your website. Many accounting-related firms have outdated websites with difficult navigation menus. This results in users clicking out of their site because they could not find the information they needed quickly enough. Sometimes, users are not given the option to send the firm a message or sign up for a consultation directly on the website.

Having an outdated website is better than having no website, but that does not mean you should not consider upgrading your site. Stop losing potential sales just because your website has not kept up with digital trends.

Accounting firms! Here are 3 basic digital marketing tips that will help you find clients online.

1. Create an email list - Email lists allow you to provide value to your past clients while also converting potential clients that may be indecisive about paying for your services. Start forming an email list to benefit from email marketing campaigns.

2. Post consistently - Social media allows you to stay connected with your audience, which in your case are clients and prospective clients. By posting frequently on many social media platforms, you can stay top-of-mind so when one of your followers needs your services, you are the first firm they think to contact!

3. Ask for reviews - If you have not already done so, register your business with Google and sign up for Google Reviews. Reach out to past clients that were satisfied with your work and ask them if they could leave a review. This helps your business's credibility and relevancy in Google's search results.

We will have more posts in the near future going into more detail on some of these topics. Follow our page for more marketing tips for accounting firms.
