What is a shock sensor?

Shock sensors are devices placed on a window or door frame which detect vibration, i.e. if someone is banging, jiggling or attempting to force open the window or door the sensor picks this up and causes the burglar alarm to activate. They are also called inertia sensors or vibration sensors.

Great option if you have larger pets roaming around the house while away and a motion detector is not an option.

Some of them can be very sensitive if not adjusted to the proper setting it may trigger false alarms, from pets jumping on the window, thunderstorms, mowing the lawn among other things.

What Is a Motion Sensor Alarm?

A motion sensor alarm is a device that uses an optical, microwave, or acoustic sensor to detect motion around your home or workspace. Its normal use, within physical security, is to detect intruders within a facility and trigger an alarm.

What can a motion detector do?

A motion sensor, or motion detector, is an electronic device that uses a sensor to detect nearby people or objects. Motion sensors are an important component of any security system. When a sensor detects motion, it will send an alert to your security system, and with newer systems, right to your mobile phone.

What can set off a motion detector?

Moveable objects such as balloons, curtains, decorations, and pets can set off motion detectors. How to prevent this: Consider positioning motion sensors above waist level so pets can move around freely, and away from curtains and other items that may move or drift.
If you have larger pets that stay loose in the house while away consider glass break detector or shock sensors for your windows.

What is a glassbreak detector?

Glass break detectors complement door and window sensors by monitoring sound or vibration. When they detect the frequency or shock waves associated with glass shattering, they sound an alarm.

What is the technology of the glassbreak sensor?

A glass break sensor provides an additional layer of security by monitoring sound and/or vibrations on a glass surface. These devices are being activated by shock waves or sounds originating from glass being shattered.

How effective are glass break sensors?

Modern electronic glass break sensors are smart devices that are highly effective at detecting a breaking glass window. But the truth is glass break sensors can be tricky in a business security alarm system. High-pitched noises from outside can cause false alarms. Great option if you have larger pets and a motion detector can't be used.

What is the best location for a glass break detector?

Glass break sensors should be placed between 4 feet and 20 feet of the windows/glass they are trying to protect. The best alarm companies are committed to providing you with the protection and peace of mind you deserve. Adding one or more wireless glass break sensors to your system could be the right call for your home.

We have seen this time and time again, a sales rep will tell you that 1 glass break can cover an entire house which is NOT TRUE, follow these simple rules:

1. Glassbreak sensor must be in the line of site of the glass/windows you have to cover.

2. One per room rule, as long as the room does extend over 40-50 feet.

3. Don't put them in hallways attempting to cover all bedrooms, same wall as the glass/windows, follow step 1.
