We’re proud to announce the launch of the newly redesigned website for The Collegian, the student newspaper of San Joaquin Delta College in , .
This was much more than a website redesign. We worked with The Collegian team to create a stronger digital home for student journalism, one that makes it easier to publish breaking news, showcase photography and video, organize years of reporting, and give student journalists a professional platform for their work.
One of our favorite features is a custom tag-based byline system that automatically creates individual author archives, essentially giving current and former student journalists their own online portfolios. With 17 years of Collegian content on the site, that means generations of student journalists now have a place where their work can be easily found and shared.
We also suggested adding a news tip line to make it easier for the campus community to bring stories to the newsroom. It’s already doing exactly what we hoped it would, helping generate leads for important student reporting.
The Collegian describes itself as a First Amendment newspaper committed to serving Delta College students, checking abuses of power, and protecting democracy and free speech. We’re proud Rough & Ready Media could play a small part in supporting that mission.
