Did you see that ZooTampa at Lowry Park was featured in People magazine for a record number of manatees released back into Florida waters in 2025? 🎉

I was drawn to ZooTampa back as an animal science undergrad at University of Vermont because of their manatee hospital. While I ultimately wasn't chosen as an intern at the hospital (and ended up with sea turtles at Mote, instead) I still absolutely love the work that hospital does, and it's nice to see them being recognized. Truly, they're the reason I had the inkling to move to Florida in the first place.

Pictured is the zoo team performing a medical procedure on one of the rehab manatees back in May of 2025. I captured this during a shoot for the zoo.

Hooray!! It’s time to pick the winners of the Christmas card design contest.

I put all of the entrants’ names on post it notes and stuck them in my kiddo’s Jack Skellington stocking and picked the three lucky winners.

When shop asked if I would take some product shots for them (and I knew I’d be taking them at the beach) I was like uh, ok, twist MY arm. Little did I know it would be 40 degrees out in Florida that day.

Anyone else stressin’ about trick-or-treating this week? My daughter has a number of food allergies, including peanuts and tree nuts. Halloween is SCARY! But I’m lucky enough to have a wonderfully understanding two year old, who knows what she’s allergic to, that it means she can’t eat it, and doesn’t totally grasp the trick-or-treat concept anyway.

Just the other day I wrote a note in my journal: “my happiness = time outdoors & with friends”

I find the more time I spend outside, the more inspired I am creatively. And while she’s not my “friend”, I’m always also inspired by my Kiera girl. The way she can notice mundane things and get excited by them (squirrels, airplanes) helps me to slow down and appreciate them too.

So here’s to my little tree hugger, squirrel chaser, and constant source of inspiration ✨🌱
