17 emails doesn’t equal a communication plan.

Students aren’t disengaging because they don’t care. They’re disengaging because they’re overwhelmed.

More emails.
More texts.
More reminders.

At some point, support starts feeling like noise. We know that’s frustrating, because everyone behind those messages is trying to help.

But students don’t need more communication. They need clearer communication. Communication that meets them where they are.

At Swim, we help colleges step back and look at the student experience through the student’s eyes.

"More" is not a strategy - Connection is.

Meet Holly: the one who bringing organization, collaboration, and a whole lot of team spirit to Swim Digital Group.

What’s a typical day like for you at Swim?
As a project manager, my day-to-day really centers around making sure the team feels supported and informed in everything they’re working on. That can look like managing deliverables and timelines for contracts with our institutional partners, coordinating action items for conference planning, or supporting our internal Swim Digital Group infrastructure. The specifics will shift daily, but the constant includes taking time to check in with the team, staying aligned across projects, and making sure everything is moving forward as planned.

What’s a moment at Swim that made you feel proud to be part of the team?
There are a lot of moments that come to mind. I always feel proud when we celebrate individual and company wins together, or when the team jumps headfirst into a project with such a strong collaborative spirit. I also really value the time we set aside to just talk, brainstorm, and think about how we can make our work even stronger. A recent example that stands out is when we all participated in a company-wide March Madness bracket. There were fun daily activities that kept everyone engaged and laughing. The work still got done, and done well, but we also made space to enjoy being a team. That kind of intentional balance is really special.

Coffee order or go-to snack during the workday?
Right now, I’m switching it up depending on the day: either a Scooter’s Honeycomb Mocha (so good) or a Dunkin’ Dunkalatte (a classic). It really just depends on what kind of boost I need that morning. :)

We’re grateful to have Holly on the team, and for the energy, care, and collaboration she brings every day!

“I was really excited when I joined Vol State as the fifth president that Swim was already in place. They had been doing the work for us for our strategic enrollment management plan and really had put us on a pathway to be successful.”

That’s what President Dr. Wendi Tostenson walked into on day one. Not a blank slate. Not a stalled initiative. A partnership already in motion, with Swim Digital Group actively building the foundation for long-term enrollment and student success.

From there, it wasn’t about starting over. It was about leaning in. Building on that momentum to drive stronger results across enrollment, retention, and completion, while continuing to evolve how the institution works together to support students.

This isn’t surface-level strategy. It’s real work that shows up in how teams think, collaborate, and move forward together. It means having the hard conversations, staying close to the work, and committing to change that lasts.

That kind of partnership isn’t for everyone. It asks more. It challenges what’s comfortable.

But if you’re ready to build on what you have and take it further, Swim is ready to get in it with you.

Let’s talk.

For years, higher ed talked about the enrollment cliff like it was something coming down the road.

But campuses aren’t preparing for it anymore. They’re living it.

Shrinking applicant pools, changing student expectations, and outdated systems are forcing institutions to rethink how enrollment really works.

The colleges gaining momentum right now aren’t waiting for things to “go back to normal.” They’re reworking processes, breaking down silos, and building strategies that fit today’s students.

That’s the work we do at Swim.

We partner with colleges and universities to fix what’s not working, align teams, and build enrollment strategies grounded in today’s reality, not yesterday’s assumptions.

The cliff is already here. Are you feeling it?

Some partnerships help you get things done. Others actually move an institution forward.

Our work with Austin Community College District has been the second kind.

It’s not about one campaign or idea. It’s about a shared commitment to showing up for students in the way it really counts, through decisions, systems, and the day-to-day experience they have with the college.

ACC leans into the work. They ask tough questions, stay grounded in their mission, and keep students at the center of it all. That kind of partnership makes real progress possible.

Together, we’ve been able to step back, rethink what’s working, and build better paths that support students from start to finish.

That’s what this work should look like. Real, hands-on, and focused on outcomes that matter.

We’re proud to be doing it alongside Austin Community College District, and excited for what’s next.

If you’re rethinking how your institution supports students, we’re always up for the conversation.

Alignment isn’t a buzzword. It’s what students feel when everything just… works.

In higher ed, students aren’t only experiencing your programs. They’re experiencing your people, your leadership, and your message. When those things don’t line up, it shows. Things feel confusing. Support feels inconsistent.

That’s where we come in.

At Swim, we work alongside institutions to spot where things are out of sync and bring teams back together around a shared direction. It’s not about adding more. It’s about getting everyone moving in the same way, toward the same goal.

Because when that happens, students notice.

That’s when real change starts.

We’re proud to work alongside institutions that see student parents for who they are: determined, resilient, and carrying a whole lot more than just a class schedule.

The colleges featured here are stepping up in meaningful ways by investing in childcare and support systems that help student parents keep going when life gets complicated. Because for so many, success isn’t just about making it to class... It’s about knowing someone built a path that actually works for their real life.

When institutions support student parents, they create ripple effects that reach families, communities, and future generations.

The work happening at Bronx Community College, Austin Community College District, and Aims Community College is a powerful reminder that student-centered leadership changes lives.

You don’t need another report telling you enrollment is down.

You already know.

What you need is someone willing to sit with your team, look at what’s actually getting in students’ way, and fix it together. Not by adding more analysis, but by rolling up our sleeves with the people already doing the work and helping them move through the change.

We’ve seen it firsthand. One institution increased orientation by 12%.

Reports can point to the problem, but they don’t move a single student forward. Real movement happens when teams are supported to do the work differently.

Restructuring can create uncertainty fast.

New roles. New reporting lines. A lot of questions before anything is even official... but people don’t fear change as much as they fear feeling left out of it.

The institutions that navigate restructuring well are the ones that bring people into the process early. They listen, communicate honestly, and build change alongside the teams who will live it every day.

A new org chart alone won’t transform a culture. People will.

And when buy-in is built from the beginning, transformation has a much stronger chance to last. Let us walk with you.

A President recently shared: “I felt like I was drowning. Too many initiatives, not enough people who could lead them.”

We hear this a lot.
It’s not a strategy problem. It’s a capacity problem.

There’s no shortage of ideas. The real gap is having enough leaders ready to carry them forward.

Instead of adding more plans, we focus on building leaders in the middle of the work. Real projects. Real decisions. Real ownership.

That way, when we step out, your team doesn’t stall.
They keep going.

If capacity is your bottleneck, let’s talk about how to build it into the work.
