Not sure how we didn’t know this but the White House has its own calligrapher. How cool is that?

The chief calligrapher designs & creates all social & official documents for the White House. They work in the East Wing in the Graphics &Calligraphy Office. Some of the most common projects are invitations, official greetings from the president, military commissions, place cards & service awards. Sounds like a great job!

Needless to say we went down a rabbit-hole & found some awesome samples, swipe left & enjoy the penmanship.

PS - the hands in the third image belong to former Chief Calligrapher Pat Blair, she served from 2006-2018.

Just look at this stunning stationery from Cartier. The detail of the panther is amazing and so tactile. Stunning stationery like this motivates us to write more letters and are sure to bring a smile to the recipient.

If you have been following our account you know we reference writing & sending mail often. We have even hinted at the popularity of writing among public figures & celebrities. We have been regularly showcasing letters written by some of these folks.

Today we share a love letter written by American rapper and actor Tupac Shakur to Madonna. The three page letter covers thoughts of regrets over his relationship with Madonna along with fear about his own death. It is examples like this that help reinforce the power of letter writing. Handwritten letters can be time-capsules that occasionally provide a tiny glimpse inside a realm few ever get to experience, in this case letters of high profile celebrities expressing themselves during a tumultuous time in their life.

Wedding season is coming up. Your wedding is a celebration of your unique love story, so why settle for generic invitations? Custom wedding invitations are the perfect way to set the tone for your special day & show your guests just how much you care.

Featured here is a client's wedding invitation suite that is a combination of letterpress & foil-stamp printing techniques. The invite consists of deckled edge 120 # Cover paper in Natural white. The ink used is a custom mixed rust. The details card was foil-stamped with a dull silver foil onto a 110 # Cover card-stock in rust. The wedding registry card is a 110 # Cover in natural blush.

Digital is great, but a tangible invitation adds a touch of magic. Don't underestimate the power of custom invitations!

Let's be honest, generic invitations are a dime a dozen. But a custom invite? That shows you put thought and care into your event, and gets your guests excited from the get-go!

Custom invitations are the way to go as they help set the tone of the event, they express yourself (or the business behind the event) and make responding stylish and engaging.

Featured here is a bespoke invitation for a client of ours. These were engraved on our Cronite press using black ink. It consists of a formal invite along with an insert. The invite was printed on Cranes 220 # DTC paper in Ecru and the insert on Cranes 130 # Cover in Ecru. The party’s theme is based on Truman Capote’s 1966 Black and White Ball in NYC.
