Had the chance to join Jason T Wade on the BackTier podcast for a conversation about AI Search & Visibility.

We covered what AI visibility actually means for businesses, why it matters, how it fits into the broader marketing picture, and some of the challenges around understanding what happens after a company starts showing up in AI search.

The platforms may be changing quickly, but many of the fundamentals around being visible, credible and useful to potential customers haven’t changed nearly as much.

The full conversation is only about 12 minutes:

Our Naples study benchmarked 1,812 businesses across 18 industries.

188 appeared at least once, a 10.4% visibility rate.

Veterinary practices reached 34.5% visibility, while insurance businesses were at 5.1%.

But one of the broader lessons from Naples, and from the research overall, is that the question matters almost as much as the platform.

Changing the way someone asks for a recommendation can introduce an entirely different group of businesses.

That makes AI visibility less about "ranking" and more about how consistently a company remains discoverable across the different ways a buyer might search.

Fort Myers produced one of the clearest examples in our Florida research of why a single citywide visibility number can be misleading.

We benchmarked 1,834 businesses across 18 industries. 186 appeared at least once, a 10.1% visibility rate.

Assisted living businesses appeared at 47.8%.

General contractors were at 4.0%.

Same city. Same AI platforms. Very different visibility depending on what the buyer needed.

The full Fort Myers report looks at those industry differences, recommendation concentration, and how businesses moved in and out of the results as the searches changed.

Jacksonville gave us another useful example of how much the wording of a search can affect who AI recommends.

We benchmarked 4,204 Jacksonville businesses across 18 industries. 239 appeared at least once, a 5.7% visibility rate.

Architecture firms appeared at 16.2%.

General contractors were at 1.8%.

But the industry differences were only part of the story. Businesses also came and went as we changed from broad discovery searches to more specific need-based questions.

If buyers ask different questions, they can get very different competitive sets.

Our West Palm Beach study benchmarked 1,678 businesses across 18 industries.

153 appeared at least once, giving the market a 9.1% visibility rate in the searches we tested.

Veterinary practices were at 31.6%.

Insurance businesses were at 3.6%.

The gap is another reminder that "AI visibility" is not really a market-level condition. It is shaped by industry, platform and search intent.

The full West Palm Beach report digs into where businesses surfaced, how often they repeated and how the results changed as searches became more specific.

Football season is here, and every team has a playbook. Your PR strategy should too.

Just like a football team doesn’t step onto the field without a plan, businesses shouldn’t rely on one-off PR tactics and hope they deliver results.

Our Full-Funnel Digital PR Playbook helps businesses turn earned media into a strategic growth asset - from building credibility and visibility to amplifying coverage, engaging buyers, and connecting PR to pipeline.

🏈 The goal? Don’t just make the play. Make every play count.

In Fort Lauderdale, 131 of the 2,082 businesses in our benchmark appeared at least once in the AI recommendations we tested.

That works out to a 6.3% visibility rate.

But veterinary practices were at 22.5%, while general contractors were at just 1.8%.

The larger pattern is becoming pretty clear: local AI visibility is fragmented.

A business can be prominent for one type of search and nearly absent for another. It can surface on one platform without appearing on the others.

That is why we are looking beyond whether a company appears once and measuring how consistently it is part of the answer.

St. Petersburg is a smaller market than several of the cities in our study, but that did not make AI discovery any more uniform.

We benchmarked 1,457 businesses across 18 industries. 156 appeared at least once, a 10.7% visibility rate.

Veterinary practices reached 31.2% visibility, while business consultants were at just 1.8%.

The city also showed the same pattern we have seen throughout the research: who appears depends heavily on the category, the platform and the type of search.

Our Orlando AI Visibility study found a market where the industry mattered far more than any single citywide number.

We benchmarked 3,955 Orlando businesses across 18 industries. 215 appeared at least once, a 5.4% visibility rate.

But the range was enormous.

Assisted living businesses appeared at a 27.8% rate.

General contractors were at 1.3%.

That is one of the reasons we are reluctant to reduce AI visibility to a single score. The same city can look completely different depending on what someone is trying to find.

Miami is a good example of why market size does not automatically translate into broader AI visibility.

We benchmarked 6,800 Miami businesses across 18 industries. Just 148 appeared at least once, a 2.2% visibility rate.

Commercial real estate businesses appeared at an 8.3% rate. Insurance businesses were at 0.7%.

And, as we saw elsewhere, the results changed depending on the platform and the way the buyer asked the question.

That matters because being well established in a large market does not necessarily mean AI systems will surface your business when someone starts looking.

The full Miami findings are part of our 2026 Florida AI Visibility Research.
