n8n is fine for simple automations.

But trying to build production AI systems inside a visual workflow canvas is where things start breaking down.

At some point, the workflow becomes spaghetti.

Too many nodes.
Too many branches.
Too many hidden failure paths.
Too little observability.
Too little control.

That may work for a prototype.

It does not hold up when the AI system needs memory, agent loops, approvals, secure RAG, custom UI, tracing, cost control, and production reliability.

For serious AI software, I would rather build the core with:

React for the interface.
Python for the backend.
LangGraph for stateful agents.
LangSmith for observability.
Real infrastructure for security, scale, and ownership.

n8n is useful for lightweight automation.

But production AI needs architecture.
