🏠 HELP SOLVE A FLORIDA KEYS MYSTERY

This house sits on the Lazy Days property in Islamorada, but it predates the restaurant itself.

So far, here's what we've been able to uncover:

• The house was built in 1947. • It originally sat closer to the shoreline. • Around 1988, it was moved approximately 150 feet closer to US 1. • Lazy Days opened in 1991. • We've also learned that a man named Dusty may have rented the house during its later years.

Now the mystery begins.
Who owned this house?
Why was it built in 1947?
Who lived here over the years?
Was it connected to Alligator Reef Lighthouse operations, as local stories suggest?
I've reached out to local historians and the Florida Keys History Center, and so far, nobody has been able to definitively answer those questions. In fact, this mystery has historians searching too.

That's where the community comes in.
Do you remember this house before Lazy Days opened?
Do you have old photographs of the property?
Do you know who lived here, who owned it, or who helped move it?
