EquuSound is excited to welcome our newest Sales Representative: Orlando Alamillo!

Orlando Alamillo brings more than 35 years of riding experience to the horse industry. His competitive background includes team roping, gymkhana, and cowboy mounted shooting, where he currently competes as a Senior Men’s 3 rider. He is also the President of the California Sharp Shooters through the United States Mounted Shooting organization.

A committed advocate for cowboy mounted shooting, Orlando actively introduces new riders to the sport by conducting multiple beginner and introductory clinics throughout the year.
Orlando holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and has further developed his equine knowledge through farrier coursework. He performs hoof care for his own horses, combining practical horse ownership with an understanding of sound hoof-care principles.

Professionally, Orlando serves as the Plant and Animal Science instructor at Mesa Linda Middle School in Victorville, California. Through both his teaching and equestrian involvement, he shares his knowledge of animals, horsemanship, and cowboy mounted shooting with students, riders, and the wider horse community.

We love seeing a great first experience turn into a great weekend!

Nekkei Laza decided to test out a set of EquuSound earplugs during the eliminator qualifiers in Vegas. After trying them out, she purchased a set to use for the rest of the weekend—and she and The Donald made the most of them!
Fighting hard through five stages, they went home with their final win and moved up to a L6! 🎉

We couldn’t be more excited for Nekkei and The Donald and the success they had at their first shoot in EquuSound earplugs! Congratulations on an incredible accomplishment, Nekkei! 👏🏼

🏆 Congratulations to Team EquuSound! 🏆

We'd like to congratulate JD Casperson and Cammi Taranto on an incredible weekend at this year's Western Championship!

🎯 JD Casperson had a phenomenal performance, setting not one, but TWO World Records and taking home the Men's Open Eliminator Championship. What an amazing accomplishment! (Watch his winning run below!)

🎯 Cammi Taranto, EquuSound Co-Founder, also had a great weekend, winning the Ladies 2 Championship.

We're incredibly proud to have talented riders representing EquuSound both in and out of the arena.

Congratulations again, JD and Cammi, on an outstanding Western Championship! We can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.

What a fantastic weekend at the CMSA Western Championship in Las Vegas! 🐴💙

It was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces and catching up with our amazing EquuSound family. To everyone who stopped to say hello—thank you for your continued support! And to all of our new EquuSound customers, welcome! We're so excited to be a part of your journey and can't wait to hear how you and your horses do.

To help keep your EquuSound earplugs performing their best, here are a few quick care tips:

✔️ Store your earplugs in your EquuSound bag and keep them in your gear bag, out of direct heat whenever possible.
✔️ Make sure the neoprene band is what we call "bandaid tight." Tight enough to keep them in but not too tight!
✔️ When they're not in your horse's ears, Velcro your earplugs to your bridle. This protects your foam, neoprene, and keeps them from hitting your horse in the face! (See the attached pic!)
✔️ Always use the retention system to help keep your earplugs securely in place while riding. (🎥 See the attached video!)
✔️ When removing your earplugs, roll them out gently rather than pulling on them, to protect your foam. (🎥 Watch the attached video for the proper technique!)

Did you know your horse may be riding in noise levels comparable to a lawnmower or construction site for hours at a time?

We recently measured the sound levels inside our enclosed gooseneck horse trailer and found an average reading of 94 decibels—about the same as a food blender or lawnmower. Even more surprising, noise levels regularly peaked at over 100 decibels when semi-trucks, buses, and motorcycles passed by, which is comparable to a construction site or nightclub.

While we often focus on our horses' comfort by providing hay, water, and proper ventilation during travel, noise is something many of us never consider. Yet horses have extremely sensitive hearing and can be exposed to these sound levels for hours on the road.

Below is a testimonial from one of our clients who purchased EquuSound specifically for the trailer.

*Please note, during travel, we recommend placing a fly mask with ears over the earplugs to help protect them. Because our earplugs rely on a retention system rather than internal ear pressure, the fly mask provides a layer of protection for them while hauling.

When using the neoprene retention strap, be sure it is adjusted snugly but not overly tight, allowing for proper comfort and circulation to the ear throughout the trip.

In just four weeks since switching to EquuSound, JD Casperson and his horse Billy have already had an impressive run!

JD captured the Overall Championship at the USMS Peoa Ranch Rodeo Shoot and followed it up by winning Open Shotgun at the Beat the Heat Shoot in Flagstaff on his up and coming mount, Billy.

When his son's horse wasn't feeling his best this past weekend, JD stepped up and entered the shotgun competition. Despite having never competed with long guns before, Billy handled the challenge like a seasoned veteran!
