FBI, Arkansas State Police and Miller County deputies executed a search warrant this morning in the 8000 block of Old Harrison Chapel Road.

The Miller County Sheriff's Office confirmed its deputies assisted the two agencies but said it will release no further information because the investigation is being conducted by ASP and the FBI.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, at approximately 8:02 p.m., the Hope Police Department responded to a report from a citizen who was cleaning property in a wooded area and discovered what they believed to be a deceased person.

Officers and detectives arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of a deceased individual. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the race and s*x of the individual could not be immediately determined.

The Hempstead County Coroner estimated the individual had been deceased for approximately one week; however, an exact time of death could not be determined at the scene.

The deceased was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where investigators will work to determine the individual's identity, as well as the cause and manner of death.

This investigation remains active. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Hope Police Department at (870) 777-3434 or submit information through their local law enforcement agency.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

On June 27, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Front Street Plaza and the Loading Dock Stage became the heart of Texarkana’s final major summer event, bringing the sound of the blues home for a special tribute to hometown musician Travis Matthews — a man who’s shared the stage with legends like Ike and Tina Turner, B.B. King, and a number of Grammy Award winners.

The celebration honored that legacy with tribute performances to B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan alongside a live set from Travis Matthews & Company, regional blues acts, the TK Social Steppers and a friendly guitar-player showdown. And true to the festival’s name, the wing game was serious business — vendors squared off for Best Wing, Best Flavor, and Best Sauce, while the community shopped local with area artisans and organizations.

A time was had watching Soul Vybes perform live on the big stage in the 1923 Banana Club in Texarkana Arkansas!

Soul Vybes is an upcoming live band from Texarkana that’s full of talent and beautiful rhythms. Vashon Productions had the honor of being invited to witness the magic they make happen in person & we couldn’t be more excited to showcase a snippet of the electricity we experienced that night.

The 1923 Banana Club is a exclusive downtown speakeasy in Texarkana with unmatched ambiance that will take you through a on a journey in time filled with musical culture and cold drinks that will have you coming back for more!
