Growing up in a poverty-stricken and crime-ridden neighborhood of Toledo Ohio during the late 90s was an immense challenge that plagued the lives of many. Gangs and drugs were rampant and opportunities were limited, leaving little room for growth and development. "I have lost tons of family members and friends due to the crime and violence in our community and over half of them being the youth." However, the arrival of technology in the early 2000s brought a glimmer of hope for some, including two neighbors Markeith Johnson (CEO) and Bennie Johnson III (CTO), who seized the opportunity as a means of escape. Despite advancements in technology, violence and poverty continued to stricken the city, leaving local businesses with inadequate resources to initiate any real change. "There are tons of local businesses that wants to help fight against this youth crime in Toledo, Ohio but there is no outlet." Markeith Johnson said. Despite these obstacles, after two long decades, Toledo Outlet was created as a collective effort to provide a much-needed outlet for the community to thrive.
