Advertising via Connected TV (CTV) has been around for a while. However, at the beginning of 2016, Nielsen reported that only 29% of homes had a Smart TV in the home. Despite the appeal of being able to place targeted ads on living room TV sets, the lack of scale caused many advertisers to hesitate about including CTV in their media mix. In 2025, 99% of U.S. households subscribe to at least one streaming platform that is viewed on either a Smart TV or using ROKU, an Amazon Fire Stick, Google Chromecast or another similar device. With this scale, CTV is now a very sensible addition to the media mix for advertisers both large and small. CTV offers precise targeting, broader audience engagement, and strong halo effects that boost conversions across channels. Plus, advancements in machine learning and marketing mix modeling (MMM) now make it easier than ever to measure its impact.
If you are serious about growth, whether rolling in the dough or pinching every penny, CTV is a channel worth serious consideration.

This week's "blood worm moon" total lunar eclipse is a must-see celestial event that will paint the moon with a stunning reddish hue as it passes through Earth's shadow. Visible across the U.S. and the Western Hemisphere, the eclipse will begin Thursday evening on the West Coast and early Friday morning on the East Coast. The total eclipse will last for about 65 minutes, offering an incredible opportunity to witness the moon's transformation. The reddish color, caused by sunlight filtering through Earth's atmosphere, will create a captivating "blood moon" effect, making it a rare and awe-inspiring sight. If you’re lucky enough to catch it, the eclipse promises a mesmerizing display of the moon and surrounding stars.

In 2024, the Super Bowl on CBS had the most viewers ever, at 120.3 million, an increase over 113 million the previous year. Along with other platforms, Nielsen estimated total viewership at 123.7 million, making it the most watched sporting event of the year. This year’s showdown between the Chiefs and the Eagles in New Orleans is expected to meet and possibly exceed those viewership numbers as the contest is aired on FOX, as well as their ad-supported streaming service, Tubi, and other streaming platforms. The average cost per spot is $7.5 million, up from $7 million a year ago, with some paying as much as $8 million. Many advertisers are gambling and requesting that their spots air late in the game, in anticipation of a close contest and higher engagement by viewers. Music is healing for many people, and musicians and bands have a generous history of joining together to raise money for worthy causes. What has changed is how the public can experience the performances. In 1971, the Concert for Bangladesh, organized by former Beatle, George Harrison, could be experienced in person at Madison Square Garden, then later heard on the best-selling album. In 2001, the four major broadcast networks (FOX, ABC, NBC, and CBS) organized a music telethon called “America: A Tribute to Heroes”, that could be seen on all broadcast and cable networks in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks. This Thursday, January 30th, musicians have come together again, with FireAid, a benefit concert dedicated to rebuilding communities that have been devastated by wildfires. Live performances will be held simultaneously at the Intuit Dome and KIA Forum in Inglewood, CA. However, instead of being broadcast by the traditional networks, the concert will be streamed live across a variety of platforms including Amazon Music/Prime Video, Apple Music, Apple TV app, Disney+/Hulu, Facebook/Instagram, iHeartRadio and a few others, demonstrating a big change in how people consume media over the past few decades.
