This time of year, I’m most thankful that I had the guts to start…and the stubbornness not to quit when it got hard. Because the older I get, the more I realize I didn’t build a business just to make money.

I built a business that gives me freedom.

🧠 Freedom to schedule meetings when I actually have the bandwidth for them.
🫱🏼‍🫲🏽 Freedom to work with clients I genuinely enjoy.
🫶🏻 Freedom to collaborate with people I trust.
👰🏻‍♀️ Freedom to get married on a Tuesday because why not?
🌅 Freedom to show up at a job site at sunrise and go fishing til sunset.
🎢 Freedom to chaperone the field trips, attend the school events, and be present for the little moments that matter.

As a mom of 5, a blue collar wife helping build a roofing company from the ground up, and someone who genuinely loves being involved at home, freedom isn’t a luxury because it’s a necessity.

And every time I look at a week that doesn’t fit into a “normal” schedule, I’m reminded exactly why I kept going when building this business felt impossible.

Turns out “Doing Whatever I Want” is a pretty good business plan after all.

And yes, sometimes that means riding shotgun, standing in mud, or wandering around a job site like a caffeinated raccoon with a camera 😂

— a woman currently managing multiple businesses, five kids, a household, a wedding, client deadlines, field trips, graduations, dinner plans, and approximately 7,000 tabs open in her brain.

The only thing I forgot this week is to buy myself a new loofah because I left mine at the hotel the night before our wedding 😂

Everything else is under control(ish) 🫡

The guys never stopped working once (because they shouldn’t have to.)

The best blue collar content happens when the work stays real and I blend into the crew instead of turning a job site into a photoshoot.

I’m thinking about:
👷🏻 who’s in the shot
🚧 what’s in the background
🦺 safety + professionalism
🌿 the process, not just the finished product
📸 the grit, movement, and details customers actually connect with

And one of my favorite parts of working in the blue collar world is how connected everyone is. Catching up with familiar faces, supporting other local businesses, and cross-posting between clients is always a bonus 🫱🏼‍🫲🏻

Turns out some of us were never meant to work quietly under people who mistake overworking us for leadership 😏

Now I get to build something that actually feels aligned:
🫱🏼‍🫲🏻 working with blue collar businesses
📍 being on job sites instead of trapped behind a desk
👷🏻‍♂️ helping hardworking people finally get seen online
🫡 surrounding myself with the kind of work ethic I grew up respecting

A lot of trades business owners are the same way. Not lazy.Not difficult. Just not built to spend their lives making someone else’s dream happen while theirs sits on the back burner.

And if your page looks dead, inconsistent, or confusing…you’re losing trust before they even call.

You don’t need to become an influencer. Let’s just get you seen. The businesses winning online usually aren’t the flashiest. They’re just the ones consistently showing up 📲
