Mellanie Brown, yearbook advisor for Topeka West high school spoke to our group this morning Topeka West turned 65 years old and they have not had a traditional yearbook in a long time. They’re bringing it back and have opportunities for people to support the 65th anniversary yearbook with special Advertising opportunities.

Mark Kossler with Heritage Bank in commercial banking spoke to Topeka Solutions this morning.

He shared that in national news interest rates are inching up, but that consumer spending is strong. That means it’s still a good time to buy a house or finance a business loan. He suggested getting a fixed rate loan.

He also shared that frauds and scams continue not only in banking, but insurance companies have experienced imposters. You could never be too careful. Do not to accept at face value anything that is sent over a text message asking to transfer funds or threatening to cut off your utilities if you don’t pay with a gift card.

Bill Beutler of Garner Remodeling spoke to Topeka Solutions this morning about deck materials. They use a product called decorator brand that is more durable than the standard treated wood product with aluminum powder coated railing.

Melissa Cummings of Genesis Realtors spoke to Topeka Solutions this morning.
She talked about the changes she has seen in real estate in the last 10 to 12 years. First time homebuyer age has increased as people with college debt are waiting longer to be purchasing a home.

Michael W. Driver, CPA presented a program this morning to the Topeka Solutions networking group with tax updates on federal and state tax law.
He has worked for large accounting firms doing multi state tax work and corporate taxes.
In 2006 he returned to public Accounting and in 2013 started his own practice. He continues to do tax research to serve his customers.

He also talked about the difference between tankless water, heaters, gas, water heaters versus electric water heaters.
