You need everyone at the table to actually move the needle on housing and homelessness 🏘️
This week, The Hoyt Organization had the pleasure of representing USC Lusk and attending their second annual SOLACHAN event, a new annual resource from Neighborhood Data for Social Change, at the California Endowment Center in DTLA. The report pulls together high-quality spatial data and academic research with the people actually doing the work, including local officials, neighborhood associations, developers, community organizations, researchers, and funders.
Data doesn't create change sitting on its own. It creates change when it's in the hands of people who can act on it. Here's what stood out to us:
“Our report shows that when voters and local leaders make it easier to build and invest in expanding affordable housing, it works: housing gets built, and more of it reaches the families who need it most. Unfortunately, our county’s housing shortage has been decades in the making. This year's gains barely scratch the surface, but we’re seeing that progress is possible.”
