Redwing Reveals 6: Built for the Long Watch

Slocum gliders are not designed for quick missions—they are built for endurance.

As part of the Sentinel Mission, the Slocum Sentinel glider "Redwing" operates autonomously over vast distances, maintaining a continuous presence in the ocean for long periods of time. This long‑duration capability allows scientists to observe slow‑changing ocean processes that short deployments often miss.

Why it matters:
· Persistent monitoring reveals long‑term trends
· Consistent data improves climate and ocean models
· Global coverage supports shared scientific understanding

Redwing is quietly keeping watch—day after day, mile after mile—so we can better understand the ocean that connects us all.
