Last March, we took a trip back to my home country, the Netherlands, after being away for a year and a half. Even though the weather was gloomy and rainy, as it often is in March, the familiar streets and architecture of Amsterdam still made me feel right at home.

As we explored the city, we couldn’t resist stopping by our favorite spot, Van Stapele Koekmakerij, famous for their delectable chocolate cookies. It’s become a tradition for us to visit this cozy bakery every time we’re in Amsterdam.

I can’t wait to go back to the Netherlands in October for my brother’s wedding. It’s going to be an amazing celebration with family and friends in a place that means so much to me. Until then, these photos remind us of the family and friends (and cookies) that always welcome us back home.
