Social media saves lives. 🫶
5 years ago, our CEO was contacted on LinkedIn about a really special woman (our now friend, Jo), facing a disease that would require her to eventually need a living kidney donor. They were looking for ideas and concepts to find a willing donor via social media - not a small ask.
Because Lori is Lori, she decided we would take on the mission as a pro bono project and help Jo find her hero. We built a website, created social pages, and got to work on a campaign to find Jo a kidney.
Over the last few years, Social Media Manager Molly has led PopSpeed's charge in searching for potential donors over regular video chats to discuss progress and posts, and after years of calls and chats, they've developed a real friendship.
A couple of weeks ago, our friend Jo received her kidney.
To say this project has been rewarding would be the understatement of the century. As a team, we're unbelievably proud of the power of our work. As Jo's friends, we're so grateful to see her embark on her healing journey.
Social media really can save lives.
