SATURDAY NIGHT: DAMAGING WIND THREAT INCREASING

Confidence is growing that a line of strong to severe thunderstorms will develop Saturday evening and race east across parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas overnight.

The primary concern appears to be damaging straight-line winds, with some storms capable of producing wind gusts of 70 to 90 mph. The Storm Prediction Center has expanded an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) into northeast Oklahoma, including the Tulsa metro.

Current timing:

* Western Oklahoma/Kansas: Late Saturday afternoon and evening
* Tulsa area: Roughly 9 PM to 2 AM
* Northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri: Overnight hours

Large hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, but the greatest threat at this time appears to be widespread damaging winds associated with a fast-moving squall line.

We’ll continue refining the timing and severity details as newer data arrives. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings before heading to bed Saturday night. Stay with MCWX Weather for updates.
