Breaking news from Montgomery County. The Commissioner’s Court has just adopted a groundbreaking policy that will allow CITIZENS to determine what is appropriate material for our children’s and youth sections of our county libraries. God bless Mark Keough County Judge for writing this new policy.
The citizens will be appointed to a reconsideration committee directly by the commissioners themselves. I am confident they will select wise people. Materials that don’t align with community values will be moved to a “parenting” section restricted to adults for checkout. This will be a huge relief to SO MANY moms who have shared with me that bringing their children to the library has become stressful due to the all junk being displayed. Taxpayer-funded libraries should reflect the wishes of those paying the taxes. There SHOULD be a noticeable difference between Montgomery County libraries and Harris County libraries. And now there will be! ❤️
