The thing nobody quite prepared me for is how fast building has gotten.
Projects that used to take a quarter now take a couple of weeks. Prototypes in an afternoon. First drafts of code, copy, and design in minutes.
It’s exciting. It’s also a little dangerous.
Speed has a way of making bad ideas feel like good ones simply because you can ship them.
At Impact Brands, we’re embracing AI-accelerated development. But I keep repeating the same point to my teams:
The bottleneck was never how fast we could type. It was clarity. Knowing what’s worth building.
AI is excellent at compressing ex*****on. It still can’t replace judgment about what deserves to be built.
So we let AI speed up the reversible work and slow ourselves down on the decisions we can’t easily undo.
We use it to explore faster—not to skip the thinking.
And the faster we move, the more we focus on quality, not less. Because today, mistakes ship just as quickly as good ideas.
AI removed the excuse that we didn’t have time.
It didn’t remove the responsibility to think harder about what we’re building.
If anything, that responsibility matters more than ever.
