MTV has expanded its 2026 Video Music Awards performer roster, adding Lisa, Shaboozey, Gunna, Raye, Gener8ion, Sienna Spiro, and Yung Lean to the bill. The ceremony airs September 26 on CBS and MTV at 7:30 p.m. ET, with streaming available on Paramount+. Lisa will debut her new single "SaWaDiKa," while Shaboozey performs "Cowgirl" and teams with Gunna for their collaboration "High Noon." Gener8ion and Yung Lean will world-premiere "Storm II." Snoop Dogg hosts, and Madonna opens the show — she leads all nominees with 11 nods, including Artist of the Year. "Somehow [the word] video seems cheap. Guitar Center's "Open for Legends" contest, offering a slot opening for Ed Sheeran in Mexico City on December 11, has been overwhelmed with non-legitimate entries. The contest launched September 14 — the same day Macklemore was removed from Sheeran's Loop Tour following pro-Palestinian remarks onstage. Many submissions were memes and videos supporting Palestine rather than genuine musical entries. Guitar Center told Rolling Stone the competition was developed months before the controversy. "Those submissions will not be considered so that the opportunity can remain focused on musicians," the company said. Sheeran's backing band and supporting acts Finneas, Lukas Graham, and Aaron Rowe also withdrew from the tour. All of Ed Sheeran's opening acts — FINNEAS, Lukas Graham, and Aaron Rowe — have withdrawn from his "LOOP" US tour. His backing band, Beoga, has also departed. The exits follow Macklemore's removal from the lineup after his pro-Palestine comments at MetLife Stadium. Patriots owner Robert Kraft confirmed he led efforts to have Macklemore dropped, threatening to block Sheeran's Gillette Stadium show. FINNEAS stated, "Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed." Rowe and Beoga cited their Irish heritage, referencing colonialism and genocide. Sheeran said he tried to keep Macklemore on the tour but failed, adding, "I am not complicit. I have my personal views on this devastating conflict." Story URL
