Opening Remarks from Tom Zuber, Managing Partner at Zuber Lawler
Tom Zuber, recognized nationwide by Chambers USA, is the Managing Partner of Zuber Lawler, a leading law firm in the global cannabis industry. He personally manages relationships with more than 10 of the firm’s Fortune clients, as well as funds and government entities, including the FDIC. Mr. Zuber is a leading voice in relation to a variety of emerging industries and technologies, including legalized cannabis and legalized psychedelics. Mr. Zuber is a founder of the leading international cannabis consultancy company Global Go and the leading magazine Global Cannabis Times. He has been named one of High Times “100 Most Influential People in the Cannabis Industry,” and sits on the Board of the Psychedelic Medicine Coalition. Mr. Zuber earned a J.D. degree from Columbia Law School, a master’s in public policy degree from Harvard University, and a biomedical engineering degree from Rutgers University, where he graduated with highest honors.

Mr. Wyatt is a Maryland attorney, decorated army combat paratrooper, & disabled veteran. He attended Howard University School of Law and the Executive Business Administration program at The George Washington University. Mr. Wyatt has crafted drug control & civil rights policies for US Customs & Border Protection, designed compliance tracking programs for federal & Maryland EEO regulations, and executed Congressional corrective after-action mandates. He has been counsel for multiple Fortune 500 entities, such as CSC. He served as prime labor advisor to agencies responsible for eliminating barriers to employment & distributing regulated public funding, including the US EEOC & DC Department of Employment Services.
Mr. Wyatt runs an award winning multi-disciplinary firm that provides management consulting and business development services to over twenty-two minority & women 8A, VA SDVOSB, & Maryland CBE/MBE entities. His daily portfolio is responsible for ensuring compliance and business viability of over $200 million of minority set aside contracts, grants, & funding. Mr. Wyatt is a founding member and current board secretary of the Minority Cannabis Business Association (MCBA) the nation’s first & largest 501(c)3 dedicated exclusively to minority & women inclusion in the cannabis industry.

Kevin Ford, Jr., CEO at Uplift Action Fund Inc.
Kevin Ford, Jr. is a native of Prince George's County (MD) and a graduate of Morehouse College where he received a B.A. in Business Administration – Marketing. Being a medical cannabis patient himself, he saw a void in the market for a clear source of information. To fill this void, Kevin started Uplift Maryland as a one-stop shop for navigating the state's cannabis industry. In 2018, Uplift was one of five companies awarded a grant by the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC) to develop and implement a business development and training program for minorities and women who wanted to apply for grower and processor licenses in 2019. Uplift was also awarded a contract from the MMCC to develop curriculum for Maryland’s Dispensary Agent Training Program. In 2021, Uplift transitioned to a national focus to assist minorities take part in the industry. Uplift has been instrumental in pushing for legalization by ballot initiative here in Maryland. Kevin has been featured in multiple publications including High Times Magazine, MJ Biz Daily Magazine, and Green Entrepreneur.
Tracey Lancaster Miller, EVP at Peake ReLeaf
Tracey Lancaster Miller is the Executive Vice President, founding member and owner-operator of Peake ReLeaf, an independent dispensary in Rockville, MD. She is also the President of the Maryland Dispensary Association (MDDA), the professional trade association in Maryland representing dispensaries. Born and raised in Parkville, Maryland, she has been working in the cannabis industry for 15 years, gaining her initial experience in Colorado with licensee operations and compliance before founding Peake ReLeaf in her home state with her two business partners in 2015. She joined the Board of Directors of the MDDA during its founding year (2017) and has served as President for over 3 years.
Phil Valvardi, Partner at Global Go
Phil Valvardi has spent most of his career leading innovative businesses within the highly regulated financial services industry and more recently in the highly regulated cannabis industry. Most recently, Phil was the CEO of Highroad Consulting Group, a leading cannabis consulting firm. Prior to that, Phil served as CFO at GlobeOne, a financial technology company developing a mobile financial platform. Phil also served as CEO of Maverick Network Solutions and presided over its acquisition by Fiserv. Phil was also President of the MAC Network, one of the largest debit networks in the U.S., which was sold to Concord EFS/First Data for approximately $900 million. Early in his career he held executive positions in the payments and financial divisions of CoreStates Financial Corp., now part of Wells Fargo Bank.

Janet Jackim, recognized nationwide by Chambers USA, is an experienced leader for all kinds of matters related to the cannabis industry. She handled the acquisition of cannabis operations across the nation and represented clients in relation to cannabis dispensary certificate applications, buyout transactions, business restructuring and partner dispute resolution. Ms. Jackim’s clients include multistate operators, dispensaries, producers, cultivators, investors, lenders, landlords, tenants and vendors. Ms. Jackim obtained her J.D., cm laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and her B.A., with honors, from Indiana University.
