The second option for how to build your website will help to shorten the learning curve and give you the tools you need to build your website faster.

Option #2
You buy a course that walks you through how to build your website ($ - $$)

Google University can teach you many things. Maybe even ALL the things. But the information isn’t organized in ANY useful or particular way, and Google isn’t going to let you know if there is any information missing in your DIY curriculum.

On the other hand, if you elect to take a course that tells you how to build a website on your website builder of choice, you’ll cut the amount of time you spend hunting information by a LOT. And this way you’ll have the information you need organized in one place where you can refer back to it again and again.

Perhaps more important, courses are likely to include information that you wouldn’t have even known to look for! (you know, since you aren’t actually a web designer and you don’t know what you don’t know…).

Depending on which course you choose to take, the cost of a course can range from as little $50 (don’t expect much information from these courses) to several hundred dollars. Which may sound like a lot, but it’s WAY more affordable than $3K+ for a designer website.

Dreams are the fire behind your motivation. The "why" behind your drive. You have a certain reality that you long to manifest into ACTUALITY.

You may have people in your life who'll tell you that your dreams aren't worth pursuing. That they're protecting you from disappointment by keeping your head out of the clouds. But just because they don't believe it's possible doesn't mean it ISN'T possible! Your dreams can lift you away from the "normal" life you know, so make sure you never let go!

When people set out to start building their website, they think they only have 2 options:
- Build it themselves
- Hire someone else to build it.

But these only represent the 2 end pieces of the "how-to-build-your-website" sandwich!

In reality, there are actually 6 options available to you, and over the next few days, I'll be sharing them with you so you can pick the method that's right for you!

These options represent a balance of time and money. The more time you spend, the more money you save. And the more money you spend, the more time you save.

Option #1
You take the time to learn how to do it yourself ($)

The least expensive and most time consuming option is the good old DIY website. The amount of time this takes you depends a LOT on how much web design experience you’ve had before, and your comfort with learning a whole bunch of technical stuff.

The more new you are to web design and ALL the things that go with it, the longer it’ll take you to wrap your mind around basic design principles and website strategy. Not to mention getting a handle on basic search engine optimization (SEO). And that’s to name only a few.

When you're trying to figure out where to start your website building journey, you're likely to get overwhelmed by the plethora of options available out there. But which one is right for you?

You know you'll need a lot from your website. Your website will need to wear many hats and do more tricks than a circus performer. You need a website that has a membership opportunity, or that allows visitors to upload content to your website, or with custom interactive forms, or an eCommerce store with a blog.

Or maybe all of the above!

If you're looking for the swiss army knife of website builders, you can't go wrong with WordPress.

WordPress is a BEAST of a platform, with plugins to serve darn near every need. This makes it increadibly flexible and versitile.

That said, there is one important thing to note if this is the path for you; In order to get the WordPress website you're looking for with the functionality you need that ACTUALLY works, there is a 95% chance that you'll need to hire a WordPress developer to build your site for you. And the more features you want your website to have, the more expensive your website will be.

For that reason, you may want to consider upgrading to this kind of website further down the road as your business becomes more successful if that's an option for the kind of business you're trying to run. Clearly, if you're trying to run a business based on a membership website, you do kinda need to have the membership website to begin with.

When I first started my journey to have my own freelance web design business, I knew I wanted to be able to build websites quickly that my clients would be able to easily manage themselves. Since this automatically ruled out building sites from scratch, I figured I'd give WordPress a try, since it seemed to be all anyone could talk about.
