How has the communications landscape changed over MSR’s 27 years in business? In our latest blog post, CEO and Principal, Mary Shank Rockman reflects on the shifts reshaping PR.
Here are a few key takeaways:
• Credibility cannot be automated. Technology may change how information is surfaced, but audience trust still depends on expertise, consistency, and third-party validation.
• Discoverability is now a communications discipline. Brands must communicate with enough clarity, authority, and specificity to be understood by both humans and AI-powered tools.
• Earned media carries lasting value. Independent coverage strengthens reputation while supporting search, social content, sales, and AI-era visibility.
• Communications must work as a connected system. PR, social media, owned content, and search are most effective when they reinforce one another.
• Thought leadership requires substance. Producing more content is not the same as offering an original perspective that helps audiences understand change or make better decisions.
One thing has remained over the past two and a half decades: change is constant. And while the tools and channels communicators use will continue to evolve, clear thinking, informed judgment, and trusted relationships will remain essential.
