Lula has been hanging out with us for a little while putting some much needed weight back on and learning that meals are going to keep coming. When she first arrived, she and another dog were extremely thin. The good news is that Lula is looking much healthier now and her personality is starting to come out.

She’s listed as a sheepdog mix, but if we’re being honest, she’s almost certainly some kind of doodle. Exactly which kind is anyone’s guess, but the hair definitely gives it away.

Lula has done well with her dog testing here and has been friendly with people she meets. She came in with another dog and gets along socially with other dogs, but because of her past she does best eating separately from other dogs. Meals are still a very big deal to her and she prefers not to share that moment.

She takes food and treats like it might be her last meal and tends to eat very quickly, so a slow feeder works best for her. It may take time and consistency for her to fully relax around food, and she may always be a dog who takes meals very seriously.

Lula does not have issues with people around her food, but because she loves snacks so much we don’t think she would be the best fit for a home with young children. She likes kids just fine… she just also really likes food and may help herself to whatever is in their hands if given the opportunity and she hasn't mastered the art of taking things gently yet.

Also, that doodle coat is going to need regular grooming to keep it healthy. If you’re not prepared for routine brushing and professional grooming, Lula probably isn’t the dog for you.

Lula is looking for a home that understands where she’s coming from and is willing to give her a little patience while she continues learning that life is stable now. In return, you’ll get a friendly, fluffy companion who is very happy to see you… especially around dinner time.

If you’d like to meet Lula, stop by during business hours or give us a call at 740-775-6808.

Join us for a special evening with Historic Chillicothe Inc.!

Refreshments will be served as Historic Chillicothe Inc. marks the public announcement of plans to restore one of Ross County’s oldest and most important historic homes—a Federal-style sandstone residence built between 1800 and 1810, once home to Mary Worthington Macomb and her husband, David Macomb.

Chillicothe historian Mary Anne Brown, a nationally recognized authority on the Worthington family, will share the remarkable and poignant life story of Mary Worthington Macomb, the eldest child of Thomas Worthington, one of Ohio’s founding leaders.

This event celebrates both Chillicothe’s founding heritage and the ongoing mission of historically-minded organizations dedicated to preserving our shared past.
