I get asked all the time how I come up with content ideas every single week. The truth is I don't, I plan in batches.

Swipe through for the exact process I use to map out a month of content in one sitting, so I'm never starting from a blank page.

Save this for your next planning day.

People sometimes picture what I do as picking a nice photo and writing a caption.

The part nobody sees is the client calls figuring out what actually makes a business different, the calendars mapped out weeks ahead, and the number of times one caption gets rewritten because the first version didn't sound like them.

It's more strategy than people expect, and that's exactly how it should be. Good marketing rarely happens by accident.

Curious what people think this job actually looks like day to day. Take a guess.

The first line of your caption is doing more work than you think. It decides whether someone taps "see more" or keeps scrolling.

Skip the throat-clearing. Don't open with "Hi everyone!" or a generic greeting. Open with the most interesting, useful, or surprising thing you have to say.

Look back at your last few posts. Would the first line stop you from scrolling? Follow along for more tips like this one every week.

One of the first things I check when I start working with a new client is whether their Facebook, Instagram, and website actually look like they belong to the same business.

More often than not, they don't. Different colors, different tone, sometimes even a different logo file. It's such a simple fix, and it makes a business instantly look more established and trustworthy.

If someone bounced between your Facebook and your website right now, would it feel like the same brand?

If you want a simple rule of thumb for planning content, aim for 80 percent value and 20 percent promotion.

That means for every five posts, about four should teach, entertain, or connect, and one can actually talk about what you sell. Most businesses have that ratio backwards, which is usually why engagement quietly drops off.

Take a look at your last ten posts. What's your actual ratio?

Real talk, what do you actually enjoy making more, video content or static graphics and photos?

No wrong answer. I just want to know what feels less painful for you, because that's usually the format worth leaning into first.

Comment REELS or PHOTOS. I'll share what I find in a future post.

Quick brand tip. If someone scrolled past your page with the profile picture and colors hidden, would they still know it was you?

That's the real test of a memorable brand. Not a fancy logo, just consistency. Same colors, same fonts, same tone, every single time someone sees you online.

Businesses that look different in every post are asking their audience to work harder to recognize them. Make it easy instead.

Follow along, I share tips like this every week.

A few signs it might be time for real marketing support instead of squeezing posts in whenever you get a free minute.

You know posting matters, but you can't remember the last time you actually sat down and planned it. Your page doesn't really reflect what your business does right now. You've thought "I should really do something with this" more than once this month.

None of that means you're failing. It usually just means you're busy running the actual business. That's exactly the gap I help fill, building the strategy and content so you don't have to think about it.

For a while I said yes to almost every client who reached out. It felt like the right move for a growing business.

What I learned is that not being the right fit for a business doesn't mean either of us did anything wrong. It just means the results won't be as good as they could be somewhere else. Now I ask more questions upfront, because a good fit matters more than a fast yes.

Ever had to say no to a project that wasn't right for your business? What made you walk away?

A lot of business owners think they need to be posting on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest all at once to grow. That's usually what burns people out fastest.

I'd rather see a business nail two platforms with real strategy than spread themselves thin across five with none. Pick where your actual customers spend their time, and go deep there first.

Which platform do you think your business should focus on most right now?
