I’m so happy you’re here!
For those who may not know me, I’m Dusti, and Sew Stitchin Cute grew from my love of sewing, creating, and making things that have a little extra meaning behind them.
Creativity has always surrounded me. I’ve been lucky to have some incredibly creative women in my life who, each in their own way, helped inspire my love of making things by hand.
My Grandma Stone would take drawings we made as children and lovingly turn them into hand-embroidered pillows. Looking back now, I realize just how special that was—she took something as simple as a child’s drawing and turned it into a keepsake.
My Aunt Debby shared her love of sewing through the beautiful quilts she made, and then there were my mom and my sister, who seemed to have this amazing ability to take an idea, sit down at their sewing machines, and somehow turn it into a clothing masterpiece.
I guess you could say creating with fabric has been woven into my life for a very long time. ❤️
Over the years, I found my own way of adding a personal touch through needlework. One of the things I especially loved doing was adding a baby’s name and birth information to quilts I had cross-stitched for gifts. There was something so special about taking an already beautiful quilt and adding those little details that made it belong to one particular little person. Without really realizing it at the time, I was already finding ways to stitch memories and milestones into something that could be treasured for years.
But in 2022, sewing and creating took on a much more personal meaning for me when my sister passed away.
As we went through her things, I found myself not wanting to part with her clothes. They weren’t just clothes anymore. They were pieces of her life. They reminded me of places she had worn them, things she loved, moments we had shared, and simply… her.
To me, they were proof of a beautiful life that had been lived.
That’s when my creative sewist side really began looking at those pieces differently, not as clothing that needed to be packed away or given up, but as something that could become a new kind of treasure.
Something you could see.
Something you could hold.
Something that could help keep those memories close.
And that became a big part of the heart behind Sew Stitchin Cute:

Some of my very favorite projects are now memory bears and keepsake quilts made from the clothing of someone special. I know firsthand how much meaning can be tucked into something as simple as a favorite shirt, an old pair of jeans, baby clothes, or that one piece of clothing you just can’t bring yourself to part with.
Being trusted with those belongings (and the memories attached to them) is something I truly don’t take lightly. Each piece has a story, and it’s an honor to turn those treasured items into something that can be held, displayed, loved, and eventually passed down.
Along with memory and keepsake pieces, I also love making personalized baby quilts, lovies, gifts, and other fun sewing projects. You never quite know what may come out of my sewing room next! 😊
Everything I make is handmade by me, so each piece will have its own little personality. That’s one of the things I love most about handmade items—they aren’t supposed to look like they came off an assembly line. They’re made one at a time, with lots of care (and probably a few stray threads along the way 😉).
I’ll be sharing finished projects, new ideas, available items, and probably a little behind-the-scenes sewing-room fun here too.
