In travel PR, success isn’t always about scale – it’s about precision. The most meaningful coverage doesn’t just land in front of millions, it connects with the right thousands.

We are seeing a powerful shift and travel media, with niche platforms like and in first class jerk offering more than gorgeous storytelling. They bring together tightly knit communities of travelers who trust their recommendations, crave curated experiences, and are ready to act on them.

We recently placed a story about The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage, in full-time travel, tapping into a community of design-savvy, experience-driven readers. We also partnered with First Class Jerk to showcase Vail during the fall off-season, reaching luxury travelers who value insider access and unexpected seasonal escapes.

These placements may not reach millions, but they reach the right thousands. And that’s where the magic happens. Whether it’s a beautifully written feature, a curated itinerary, or a spotlight in a newsletter with a cult following, niche media offers a direct line to travelers who are ready to book, explore, and share.

Big reaches great. Smart reaches better.

recently had a thoughtful conversation with a colleague about the pros and cons of hiring a large public relations agency versus a small boutique firm. One of the assumptions that came up was that a big agency can get you in the door with media faster. It’s a common belief, but when she respectfully challenged.

The truth is, it’s not about the size of the agency. It’s about the strength of the relationships.

Check out her LinkedIn post to read more about why relationships are what’s important, not agency size. 🔗 in bio.

Strategic media coverage isn’t just about where a story lands—it’s about when. We’re thrilled to see The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage featured in this LA Times story by Emily Hochberg, which highlights the desert’s off-season appeal—when temperatures rise and luxury becomes more accessible.

This story is especially meaningful because it supports a key goal—driving awareness and bookings during a traditionally slower season. For destinations like the Coachella Valley, summer is a “need period”—and smart storytelling can shift perceptions and inspire travel when it matters most. 🔗 to story in bio.

Summer in the desert? Sure - it's hot, but luxury is so are lodging rates! Check out this nice placement in the Los Angeles Times featuring The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage!

Before you shrug off summer in the desert, consider this: The Palm Springs area is picturesque all year, most restaurants have availability and keeping cool is easy when all you do is bop between the pool and A/C.

We've recently hosted several journalists to property and destination visits. Feedback we've been hearing over the last few months got our founder Kristin Yantis thinking about the outdated concept of assignment letters. Kristin published a piece on LinkedIn titled, "The Assignment Letter is a Unicorn: What That Means for PR." Click on the link in our bio to join the conversation!

So proud of this fantastic feature from Denver Life Magazine on the new Hotel Polaris! What a fun read that features the mid-century design of the hotel along with the cool touches inspired by the nearby U.S. Air Force Academy.

For a staycation that soars beyond expectations, Colorado Springs’ new Hotel Polaris is a stunning new property adjacent to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

When pitching new business, we are often asked about the story behind the name "Malen" in Malen Yantis Public Relations. It's a tribute to Kristin's grandfather, Gordon Malen, whose remarkable career and passion for storytelling deeply inspired her. In public relations, a great story is essential to success, and she wanted her company name to reflect this philosophy.

Gordon Malen was an award-winning public relations and advertising executive in the Twin Cities. As Assistant Vice President and Director of Advertising and Public Relations for First National Bank of Minneapolis, he spearheaded numerous events, including their iconic annual winter ice skating show. Before his advertising career, he was a reporter for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, where he covered momentous events like Charles Lindbergh's historic transatlantic flight—he even posed for a photo with the Spirit of St. Louis!

Gordon's fascinating career also included a stint as an FBI agent from 1942 to 1946, stationed in Florida during WWII. His experiences, from receiving a recruitment letter from J. Edgar Hoover to navigating his work during the war, were the foundation for countless incredible stories.

He was always supportive of Kristin's journey into journalism and public relations. She treasures the pages he mailed her from Editor & Publisher magazine, highlighting articles he thought she'd appreciate. Although he passed away in 2001—six years before Malen Yantis PR came to life—his legacy fuels Kristin's work every day. The name "Malen" is her way of honoring his enduring impact and love for storytelling.
