Your content calendar shouldn’t give you chills. 👻

Posting whenever, sharing only sales pitches and leaving people wondering what to do next? Those are three ghosts worth showing the door.

Start with a customer question. Give your audience something useful. Make the next step clear.

Thursday, we’re giving this plan a skeleton. Which ghost is haunting your business?

Your brand already has a personality. Is anyone hearing it?

Most marketing sounds the same. "Best in town." "Quality service you can trust." Your customers scroll right past it.

At Creative Marketing Sciences, I find what makes your brand you and turn it into the language your customers actually respond to. Social media, content, SEO and strategy, all sounding like you.

Your next content idea might already be in your inbox. đź’¬

That question a customer asked you twice this week? It could be an explainer post. “Can you show me?” could be a demo reel. “Where do I start?” could be a quick tip.

I love a creative brainstorm, but I always listen to the audience first. They’re usually telling us what they need to understand.

What question do people ask about your business all the time? Tell me in the comments. I might help you turn it into a post idea.

Staring at a blank content calendar? Your customers may have already filled part of it for you.

Think about the questions you answered this week. The ones in your inbox, on a call, or during a conversation that started with, “This might be a silly question…”

That question could become a helpful post. A request to see how something works could become a short demo. A “where do I start?” moment could become a quick tip.

You don’t have to invent every idea from scratch. Listen closely, then answer clearly.

What question did a customer ask you recently that more people probably have?

A big engagement number can make you stop and smile. I get it. I love a good number, too.

But the number is where the questions start:

Who saw the post?
What did they respond to?
Did the message reach the people you wanted to reach?
What should you test next?

The 59.5% in this graphic comes from a recent analytics example. On its own, it doesn’t tell the whole story. Good reporting should help you make a decision, not just admire a percentage.

What metric do you find hardest to put in context?

Posting more won’t automatically make your social media work harder.

If every post goes out because “we need to put something up,” your audience can feel it. Before you fill another week on the calendar, ask:

Who is this for?
What do they need to understand?
What should they do next?

More content can help. Clear purpose makes that content useful.

If your posting schedule is full but your strategy feels fuzzy, let’s talk. I put the link in the first comment.

That 59.5% engagement rate looked fantastic.

It also came with smaller reach.

That doesn’t make it a bad result. It makes it a useful signal.

The people who saw the post responded strongly to a practical, myth-busting message. My next move would be to keep the idea, test a new hook, turn it into a reel and introduce it to a broader audience.

Then we compare the results before putting paid promotion behind it.

Every social media report should answer three questions:

What worked?
Why did it work?
What should we do next?

If your reporting stops at “look at this impressive number,” you’re missing the strategy.

Your analytics are already telling you what to create next.

Across recent campaigns, the signals included 96% non-follower reach, 24.2% engagement and 370% growth in a newly developed social presence.

Each number answers a different question:

Are new people discovering the brand?
Does the message connect?
Is the strategy building momentum?

I use those answers to refine the hooks, formats and distribution behind the next campaign.

Every post should have a job. Your reporting should show whether it did that job.

A 59.5% engagement rate is exciting. It is also not the entire story.

The post reached a smaller audience, but that audience responded strongly to a practical, myth-busting message.

That tells me the message deserves another test.

I would use the same core idea in a reel, develop a second hook and test it with a broader audience. Then I would compare the results before deciding whether to scale it with paid promotion.

Social media reporting should do more than celebrate the largest number. It should tell us what to do next.
