At first glance, it’s a quiet morning at the water’s edge. Look a little closer and things become less ordinary.

Ghostly Dawn was created to draw you into the stillness first—and then let you discover the unexpected details hiding within the scene.

That’s one of the things I love about composite photographic art. I can begin with photographs of the real world and create a place that feels almost real…until it doesn’t.

Apparently flamingos know how to throw a party. 🦩
Flamingo Fun Night started with my original photographs and a little imagination. I brought the scene together piece by piece in Photoshop—because sometimes reality just needs a little help becoming more interesting.

Today’s Photoshop class explored how to turn subjects from our own photographs into reusable custom shapes. Once created, those shapes can be resized, recolored and incorporated into all kinds of creative projects—without losing their crisp edges.

It started with a porch, some goats, a couple of beers and a cigar.
Individually, they were just photographs. Put them together and apparently the goats decided it was time for happy hour.
Porch Party was created from my original photographs, combined and transformed in Photoshop to create a scene that never actually happened—but perhaps should have.
That’s the fun of composite photographic art. I start with photographs of the real world and then let imagination take over.
Porch Party is currently on display at Number 33 Gallery of Arts in Venice, Florida.

What happens when a flock of birds discovers flamenco?

Birds Dancing the Flamenco began with individual photographs and a little imagination. I brought the scene together one element at a time in Photoshop, turning separate photographs into one improbable gathering.

That’s what I love about composite photographic art—the photographs are real, but the story they create together never had to be.

What does it take to build a flamingo cocktail party? 🍹🦩

It starts with my original photographs—then, piece by piece, I bring them together to create a scene that never actually existed.

Flamingos are positioned, resized and blended into their new surroundings. Color, light, shadows and details are adjusted until all those separate photographs begin to feel like they belong in the same wonderfully improbable world.

Because sometimes the fun is not just in the finished picture. It’s watching the story take shape.
