Kasha, she was true blue. It’s a quality that is rare. She was the same kind hearted bright human from the day I met her as an overeager young skier until the last time we caught up in Los Angeles trying to figure out our next steps. In our small ski tribe, she was the best example I had to emulate. She was an original, cut from a different mold and with nothing but joy and empathy to give to the world. Her impact will continue.

11 years ago I was sleeping on the deck of the sh*****ng boat Mo De Girls shooting the show Ragin Cajuns.

The captains name was Blimp and he had the sweetest wife named Donna. They where true blue and had been fishing together since high school when they where sweethearts. They had lived hard lives, heart attacks, gunshots, rumor had it Blimp had bit a guys ear off in a bar fight. Blimps real name was Tim and his son “Tim tim” joined us as a deck hand. Blimp had a pet raccoon, wasn’t superstitious but wouldn’t set foot in parts of the bayou.
I never could understand him because his accent was so thick on the telephone so I would just abruptly say I will meet you at the dock when he called.

So If you ever wonder why I wear a silver shrimp around my neck and say come on wierd sometimes…. I blame it on the Mo De Girls and Blimp. He was a real character.

Lights on Main Street in a epic little town that I spent 6 years in. I loved it for it’s rough edges, blue collar work ethic, and it’s access to the sea. It is full of stories about boat building, surf design and some of the hardest working creative people I know. It holds a very warm place in my heart.
