This morning I went to church for the first time in a long time.

The message was about Peter denying Jesus three times in John 18, and then about Jesus meeting Peter again in John 21.

It hit me harder than I expected.

Peter made mistakes. He was afraid. He didn't handle everything perfectly. But Jesus didn't decide that Peter's worst moment defined the rest of his life. He met him with forgiveness, restoration and a purpose: “Feed my sheep.”

The last few weeks have taught me a lot. I've tried to help people, I've made mistakes, and I've learned some difficult lessons. I've also learned how quickly people can judge a person based on one side of a story or one moment in their life.

I'm not going to fight every battle on Facebook. I'm not going to answer every accusation or try to convince everyone to see me differently.

I'm going to learn from the things I could have done better, make right what I can, keep my faith, keep working, and keep helping people.

Today I was reminded that our mistakes don't have to be the end of our story.

Sometimes they're the beginning of a better chapter.

John 18 & John 21 ❤️

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH — THE FACTS MATTER

For the past three weeks, I have watched accusations, rumors, one-star reviews, and outright false statements be made about Monsters Ink and about me personally. I have tried to stay quiet and professional. That ends now.

I will not continue allowing people to publicly accuse me or my business of theft, fraud, or other wrongdoing when those accusations are false.

HERE ARE THE FACTS.

The two women involved originally came to Monsters Ink because of the work we had done and the communication they had received from our staff. We agreed to help set up this fundraiser and worked to get it running as quickly as possible.

As the fundraiser progressed, the calls, texts, messages, and demands became constant. Eventually, communication with one individual became so unproductive that we made the decision to discontinue direct communication with her.

Meanwhile, we were still doing the work.

We were producing fundraiser orders while also running our regular business. Customers were coming through the doors. People were picking up orders. We had equipment issues, including our printer going down. There were only two of us trying to keep everything moving, and we desperately needed more help.

There were times when we seriously considered walking away from the fundraiser because of everything happening around it.

We didn't.

We continued because this was supposed to be about Cody and his children.

I donated MONTHS of my time to this fundraiser. I worked on it while still trying to operate the business that pays our bills and supports local families.

And I think it is fair to ask a question:

While I was expected to donate my time for months, were the people organizing this fundraiser willing to do the same?

If getting hundreds of orders completed faster was the priority, extra hands would have been greatly appreciated. Instead of volunteering time to help us sort, organize, distribute, or handle the workload, we felt we were being pressured and attacked while continuing to do the work.

WHY DIDN'T WE CLOSE OUT THE FUNDRAISER IMMEDIATELY?

Because we couldn't.

There were numerous completed orders that had still not been picked up.

On top of that, three orders received full chargeback/refund claims stating that the customers had not received their merchandise. Two of those orders had been picked up IN OUR STORE, and one had been mailed with delivery confirmation.

Those issues had to be resolved before we could accurately close out the financial portion of the fundraiser.

And now let's address the accusation that has been repeated over and over:

I DID NOT STEAL FROM THIS FUNDRAISER.

The fundraiser generated $2,203.10 for Cody's family.

Labor alone associated with this fundraiser was approximately $3,400.

Think about that.

I donated months of my time. My labor alone exceeded the amount raised for the family, and Monsters Ink still had the costs and resources associated with producing and handling the merchandise.

So where exactly is this supposed theft or fraud?

I knew I was going to lose money doing this fundraiser. I was willing to do that because I believed we were doing something good for Cody's family.

People received memorial shirts and hats that they can wear in remembrance of Cody, and $2,203.10 was raised for his family.

THAT is what this was supposed to be about.

THE FALSE ACCUSATIONS STOP HERE.

I have spent 7½ years pouring my heart, time, money, and energy into Monsters Ink.

This business supports local families. Our employees depend on this business. We work with people throughout our community every single day.

Yet people who have never stepped foot inside Monsters Ink, never done business with us, never spoken to me, and have no firsthand knowledge of what occurred have decided they can publicly accuse me of theft and fraud and attack the reputation of my business.

I am done accepting it.

We are documenting and preserving the posts, comments, screenshots, and reviews containing statements we believe are false.

Some people have already been contacted privately and have removed what they posted.

The one-star reviews that we believe are fabricated or contain false allegations are also being documented and reported to Google for review. They are additionally being provided to our attorney.

Any further public accusations of theft, fraud, or other alleged misconduct that we believe are false will also be preserved and forwarded to our attorney for review.

People absolutely have the right to their opinions. If you didn't like our service, say that. If you believe something took too long, say that. If you would have handled the fundraiser differently, you are entitled to say that too.

But criticism and knowingly making false factual accusations are not the same thing.

I have held my head down long enough while watching people tear apart something I have spent 7½ years building.

I'm not doing it anymore.

I'm holding my head HIGH because despite everything surrounding this fundraiser, despite the stress, despite the equipment problems, despite being short-staffed, despite the hours of donated labor, and despite Monsters Ink losing money doing it:

WE RAISED $2,203.10 FOR CODY'S FAMILY.

That was the purpose.

That is what matters.

And I will not apologize for standing up for myself, my employees, and the business I have worked so hard to build.

The bullying, harassment, and false accusations have gone far enough. From this point forward, we are documenting them and allowing our attorney to advise us on the appropriate response.

☀️ A Little Weekend Update from Monsters Ink ☀️

Well... we've noticed we've gained a few "extra followers" lately. 😄

First, we want to say THANK YOU to all of our "Only Fans"... and yes, we mean the only fans checking our page every day to make sure we're behaving. 😉 It really means a lot to us!

Believe it or not, you've actually done us a favor. You've lit a fire under my backside to finally tackle marketing ideas, projects, and business goals I've been putting off for far too long. The funny thing is... it's paying off! We have some exciting things in the works, and we can't wait to show everyone what's coming next.

As I started looking back over everything, I realized I apparently have a much more exciting life than I remembered! I even had my calendar ready to start writing down all the court dates everyone says I have from suing people. So I looked up the court website to make sure I didn't miss any... and I couldn't find a single one! If any of you know where those dates are hiding, please send them my way—I would hate to miss my own court appearances! 😂

Then I learned I buy a brand-new vehicle and Harley every year. That's pretty exciting too! The only problem is... I can't seem to find them. I still have my two Harleys I've owned for years and my white Jeep I bought about a year and a half ago after my beloved red Jeep finally retired with over 300,000 miles. (Everyone who knows me knows how much I loved that Jeep!) So if you happen to see all these mystery vehicles everyone says I own... just let me know where I parked them! 😆

Another thing we've been reading is that our artwork "looks like AI." Honestly... thank you! We appreciate you thinking our designs are good enough to be compared to the incredible things AI can create. We'll take that as a compliment! Our designer is unbelievably talented and continues to amaze us every single day. The best part of our job is taking a customer's idea and turning it into something they're proud to wear.

One of my favorite quotes is:

"You know you're doing a good job when your successes go unnoticed by some, but your mistakes are watched by everyone waiting for you to fail."

That one has really stuck with me lately.

Speaking of stories... many of you remember the custom embroidered duffle bags that disappeared around Christmas before we could complete the order. We didn't leave our customer hanging. We purchased brand-new replacement bags ourselves, embroidered them at no charge, and made sure they were delivered before Christmas. Seeing those grandkids open their gifts made every bit of the stress worth it.

I also have to admit... a few friends and I have spent an evening reading some of the comments together. We made popcorn, grabbed a few Jack Daniel's Country Cocktails (the variety pack is actually pretty good if you haven't tried it! 😂), and had a few laughs. Sometimes you just have to laugh, because life is too short not to.

Now for something from the heart...

After everything that's happened, I honestly questioned whether I should continue donating to fundraisers.

Then I stopped and thought about it.

I cannot think of a single fundraiser that has walked through our doors that we haven't donated to. Not one.

When a cause matters to someone in our community, it matters to us.

So instead of letting all of this discourage us...

We've decided we're going to donate even MORE.

That's who we are. That's who we've always been, and that's who we'll continue to be.

We're not perfect. We make mistakes. We learn. We work hard. We care about our customers. And when something goes wrong, we do everything we can to make it right.

To our loyal customers, thank you. Your phone calls, messages, visits to the shop, and encouragement have meant more than you'll ever know. You have stood beside us through the highs and the lows, and for that we will be forever grateful.

Now it's time to get back to doing what we love—creating awesome apparel, helping our customers bring their ideas to life, supporting local families, schools, businesses, and organizations, and continuing to serve this amazing community.

Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the sunshine, and if you happen to find those extra Harleys, mystery vehicles... or my court dates... please let me know where I left them. 😂☀️🏍️

To our community,
We want to address the recent concerns regarding the Cody Siebert memorial fundraiser.
From the beginning, the fundraiser organizers met with us, and we reviewed how the fundraiser would work. The agreed-upon terms were that, after the cost of the merchandise, printing, website fees, and other direct fundraiser expenses were paid, 50% of the remaining proceeds would be donated to Cody's family. Because this was the first large fundraiser we ran through our new website, we did not have a written contract in place. That was our mistake, and we have since implemented written agreements and procedures for all future fundraisers.
Everyone involved wanted to launch the fundraiser immediately so people could receive memorial shirts and hats as quickly as possible. During the process, we also spent many hours negotiating the cost of memorial bracelets, reducing the price from over $1.00 each to approximately $0.56 each. We ordered 300 bracelets and donated them to Cody's family. We also donated sweatshirts, T-shirts, hats, bracelets, a custom memorial plaque for Cody's parents, and offered to continue making memorial shirts for Cody's boys at no charge whenever they would like them.
Personally, I donated months of my own time to this fundraiser without taking any pay. Our business still had to pay employee wages and operating expenses. Our payroll alone was approximately $3,400 during this project, Julie did not receive payroll for this-while the family's 50% share totaled $2,203.10, meaning this fundraiser actually cost our business more than we received.
On July 29, Cody's partner received $2,203.10 in cash, signed the financial breakdown, and acknowledged receipt of the funds, marking the fundraiser complete.
The fundraiser remained open longer than expected because we were advised not to close the financials until everyone had received or picked up their orders. We made numerous phone calls, text messages, and emails to arrange pickups. After products had been received, three customers requested refunds. Even though it was a fundraiser, we honored those refund requests, which further reduced the funds available.
We recognize that communication could have been better, and for that we sincerely apologize. This was an emotional time for everyone involved, and while our intentions were always to help, we know there are things we could have handled differently.
Since these events, our business has been greatly affected. We have experienced canceled orders, negative phone calls, emails, messages, and text messages. False accusations have spread across social media, causing significant harm to both our business and my personal reputation. Because of the seriousness of these statements, we have been consulting with an attorney regarding what we believe to be defamatory claims.
The women who approached us about this fundraiser came to Monsters Ink because they had seen our work, trusted the quality of our products, and wanted to partner with us. We were honored they chose us, and we truly wanted to help Cody's family during an incredibly difficult time.
I have served this community as a firefighter and EMT because I care deeply about the people who live here. We stand behind the work we did and the financial breakdown that was provided.
To our loyal customers, thank you. Your support, kind words, and encouragement have meant more than you know. We are incredibly grateful for those who have stood beside us during this difficult time.
We respectfully ask our community to consider the facts before passing judgment. If you have supported Monsters Ink in the past, we hope you will continue to think of us for your custom apparel and promotional product needs. Supporting a small local business means more than ever right now.
Our goal is simply to move forward, continue serving our community, and get back to doing what we love—creating quality products and helping the people and organizations who trust us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our statement and for allowing us the opportunity to continue earning your trust.
