Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci ( April 14/15, 1452 – May 2, 1519 ), known as Leonardo da Vinci, was an Italian polymath of the Renaissance whose areas of interest included invention, drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, paleontology, and cartography. He has been variously called the father of paleontology, ichnology, and architecture, and is widely considered one of the greatest painters of all time ( despite perhaps only 15 of his paintings having survived ).

IMPOSSIBLE TRIANGLE • PENROSE TRIANGLE

The Penrose triangle, also known as the Penrose tribar, or the impossible tribar, is a triangular impossible object, an optical illusion consisting of an object which can be depicted in a perspective drawing, but cannot exist as a solid object. It was first created by the Swedish artist Oscar Reutersvärd in 1934. Independently from Reutersvärd, the psychiatrist Lionel Penrose and his mathematician son Roger Penrose devised and popularized the triangle in the 1950s, describing it as "impossibility in its purest form". It is featured prominently in the works of artist M. C. Escher, whose earlier depictions of impossible objects partly inspired it.
