More than half of Gen Z'ers (b. 1997-2012) want to be influencers, but why?
• Money
• Flexibility
• Fun
• Admiration
• Respect
But why?
• Influencers/micro-influencers have high ROI
• Are more trusted than friends and family for Gen Zers
• Establishes social proof
• Less intrusive = more consensual
• Promotes the experience, not "salesy"
• Encourages more organic serendipitous events
Will it last?
With the rise of AI tools, influencer marketing will be increasingly data-driven which could dull the backend experience and w**d out the less motivated. Diversification of cross-channel content as well as an increase of collaborations will help with success depending on the niche.
The future...
Authenticity in the marketplace will do battle with global ethics as our changing environment turns back to bite the heavy hand of man… Generation Alpha, born into crisis will be shaped by the horrors of armed conflicts, mental health crisis, consumerism/greed and a burning Earth. They have the potential to seek the answers we knew but didn’t practice: caring for the Earth, health, love of peace, humility, minimalism and more. Gen Alpha will be amazingly tech savvy just in time to take hold of the most important responsibility for mankind, to question awareness and the survival of their species over the goals of making the sale.
…we shall see 👀
According to a new report, over half (57%) of Gen Zers would be an influencer on social media given the opportunity, and a similar amount (53%) view influencing as a respectable career choice.
