I produced a major event for one of my clients today. I put in extra time over the weekend, stayed up late, and am really proud of how it all came together.

Not long after I got home, my oldest daughter, who's 9, made a card for me 🄹 The fact that it's the last day of Women's History Month isn't lost on me šŸ’š

Just... Not posting on socials all that much. Or ever, really😬 The pressure to post all the time and think about content all the time was sucking up all the energy I needed for my family, my clients, and myself.

As weird as it feels to be a marketer not marketing on a major platform, I'm walking my talk and not spending time/energy/resources on channels that don't move the needle. Instead, I'm focused on nurturing and building my network to build my business: going to events, staying in touch, and talking about people behind their backs (in the best way only, promise).

All that to say I'm still here and doing my marketing thing, just mostly offline. My DMs are always open, or you can drop me a line at [email protected] if you want to talk shop!

I had the *best* time presenting "Creating a Digital Marketing Plan" this morning for the Town of Wakefield's Digital Marketing Training Series! The series is wrapped up now, and all of the sessions will be available on the website soon: https://www.wakefield.ma.us/digital-grant What an honor to bookend the training in this fantastic program for local businesses. šŸ’š I'd love to hear about your experience with the program and the trainings—please drop me a DM or send me an email at [email protected]!

(Also, here's a back-end preview of the tool I mentioned this morning, Metricool. Hope you find it as helpful as I do!)

Exciting news, Wakefield friends: the Community and Economic Development Department and Economic Development Council have partnered to relaunch the Digital Marketing Training Series and Grant Program! It's a four-part digital marketing webinar series, and eligible Wakefield businesses can receive a grant of up to $3,000 toward digital marketing services after tuning in!

I'm teaching the first session, Digital Marketing 101, on Wednesday, November 6, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom. Here's the link to register: https://www.wakefield.ma.us/digital-grant

You don't have to apply or even be eligible for the grant to take advantage of the training. The other three are about SEO, AI, and public relations, and I'll be attending them myself! Even if it's not quite the right fit for you, please tell other local business owners about the program—the more people we have taking advantage of things like this, the more likely they are to continue in the future.

In case you're not on my email list (drop me a DM for a *mostly* weekly email with three quick marketing activities, two resources, and a quote!), you might have missed a departure from my regular format. Last week, I shared about an epic road trip my family took for most of August and how it didn't exactly line up with what I had in mind for my work-life balance. Spoiler alert: work didn't happen nearly as much as I thought, but the life stuff was full-on awesome.

I count July 1 as my "official" business start dates though all my paperwork was filed in February. July 1, 2023 is the first day this venture was my 100% work focus, the day when it got really real.

Part of why I started my own business rather than going to work for someone else eas wanting to be solely in control of my working time and location, so it's only fitting that I'm pulling monthly and quarterly analytics reports for my clients while at a campsite in Morristown, VT, overlooking the Lamoille River. I'll put in some more time tonight after s'mores and a campfire, and head to bed feeling like the luckiest person on the planet.

So cold-brew cheers to a fabulous first year in business—thank you (yes, you!) for being here for the ride, supporting me, cheering me on, speaking my name in places where decisions are being made, and holding my feet to the fire when I'm doing the most. I can't wait to see where the next year goes! šŸ’ššŸ§

So honored to be awarded with New Chamber Member of the Year at last night's annual meeting!

I wasn't prepared to speak, but I wish I could roll back the clock and say something like...

I've frequently heard that being an entrepreneur, especially as a one-person business, is often a lonely endeavor. Thanks to the connections I've made through the Chamber—many of whom I now consider friends—this has not been the case for me, and for that I'm eternally grateful. The encouragement, camaraderie, lively debates, and advice have been fuel for me in my first year as a business owner, and I'm excited to keep it going for years to come.

I'd hazard a guess to say that many of us didn't start our businesses for the accolades, but it really does feel lovely to be recognized for the commitment I made myself to put myself out there, show up consistently in my home community of Wakefield, and dive in headfirst to being an active Chamber member.

Thank you! šŸ’š
