Question: Why is there so much conflicting Instagram advice out there?

Answer: Because there are so many different ways to be successful on Instagram!

Isn't that an amazing thought?! 🥳

It's less about what's "right" and "wrong" and more about what's "right" and "wrong" for YOU.

So before you start to panic and change what you're doing because you're making 6 of the 7 "deadly Instagram mistakes" ☠️😳 on someone's list, consider these points:

That person doesn't know your specific goals.

That person doesn't know your community, what your schedule looks like, or any of the important details about you, your situation or your business.

That person doesn't know YOU. 💖

💜 Make sure what you do choose to put out there IS genuine.

So stop treating yourself like one. ✨

Keeping active in your Instagram community is important, and creating new content is a big part of that. But if you're struggling to keep up with content creation week after week, month after month, in spite of your best efforts to plan ahead, you might want to ask yourself who or what you're trying to keep up with and why? 🤷‍♀️

More content doesn't necessarily mean more success in your business.

Again.

Focus on creating great content that aligns with your goals and serves your target community. 🙌

Find a frequency that benefits not only your community and your goals but also YOU!

And be a little forgiving with yourself when it comes to getting that content out there. You might be having a productive week in the biz (Wahoo! 🙌) or you might be sick in bed. (Ahem. 🙋‍♀️🤧)

Don't do it for the likes! 🚫 Do it to for your community! 🙌

If you're creating content just for the likes and accolades, you're going to end up discouraged pretty quickly. 😓

But If you're creating with the intent to serve, you'll find the process much more rewarding. 🙌

We create the most effective 💥 and engaging content when we stay true to our message and tune into our audiences and what they need from us right now.

And when we get it right, applause will be a natural result! 👏👏👏

Hashtags, hashtags, hashtags.

Yes, they are super important for getting noticed by peeps outside your community on Instagram, but if you're sleeping on 😴📍 location tags, you are missing out—especially if your business is local or regional.

Recent posts for hashtags may be currently hidden on Instagram due to the election, but the "recent" tabs for locations are still alive, with new content continuing to be added!

Instagram has a lot of tools and features built in that can help us get noticed and grow our communities organically. 🙌 Location tags are one of the tools that can help up reach the right people if we use them.

If you've done a hashtag search over on Instagram in the past week, you've probably noticed that "recent" posts for all hashtags are temporarily being hidden. 🚫👀

And while the decrease in reach you may be experiencing due to this is probably a bit of a bummer, 😩 this is an excellent opportunity for us all to be thankful for our existing communities and the relationships we've worked hard to build. 🙌

Whatever the size of your community, now is a great time to acknowledge those who have been consistently in your corner. 🙌 Thank them for their support. Reach out with a message. Continue to engage with them and provide them with value. Let them know you see them and value their presence in your community.

It's also a good time to reconnect! ✨ Take a look at your following/followers lists. See someone you haven't engaged with in awhile? Say hello! 👋 Visit their account, comment on a post or two or check in with them via DM.

And remember to keep using those hashtags! 🙌 The "top posts" for each tag are still visible, and your post may still rank there for some users. 🤩 You can also meet users where they are by continuing to browse a hashtag's top posts and engage with the content you find there–just like before.

As always, we've gotta roll with what the platform throws at us and look for opportunities to continue creating a positive impact. 🙌

Your finger is poised over the Instagram app icon on your phone, ready to tap and enter the wonderland that awaits. ✨ But wait! There are a few things you need to keep in mind so you don't go too far down the IG rabbit hole 🕳️ and get lost forever. 😵

1. 🤔 Determine your purpose. Are you hopping on to check notifications? Make a post? Respond to a DM? You'll be bombarded with a lot of distractions once you tap that icon, so remember why you're going.

2. 📃 Got a long list of Instagram to-do's? Prioritize them! Once you open the app, your notifications may present you with additional tasks, and you may soon realize that you don't have time to do all the things you originally came to do. Being able to separate your have-to's from your would-like-to's will ensure the important things get done! ✅

3. ⏰ Know how much time you want to spend before going in! Set a timer before you tap that icon. Time seems to move faster on IG, especially when we get lost in the scroll. A timer will create a sense of urgency and can pull you out of the hole before you fall to deep.
