Did you know that sniffing is terrific brain work for dogs?
A dog’s nose is one of the most powerful tools they have, and sniffing provides important mental exercise. When dogs sniff, their brains process huge amounts of information about people, animals, places, and even emotions left behind in scents. This activates parts of the brain involved in problem-solving, memory, and decision-making, making sniffing a form of enrichment that can be just as tiring as physical exercise. Allowing dogs time to stop and sniff during walks and practicing scentwork, helps satisfy their natural instincts, reduces boredom, and promotes overall mental well-being. 🐾
Just 15/20 minutes of sniffing can be as mentally fulfilling as an hour of walking. We love to use to help us when practicing scentwork 💜
