My two personal pet peeves with most content advice on this damn app:
1️⃣ everyone is obsessed with hooks
2️⃣ everyone is obsessed with editing tips and tricks
And while those are both important aspects to your content, everyone’s skirting around the bigger issue at play…
The f*ck you tryna say? To who? And why? What’s the goal here????
Because “optimization” on its own will not help you if the substance within your content doesn’t exist.
🤍 Example A: you have an incredible hook… but you lose your audience‘s attention immediately after the first three seconds so while you got the view and your metrics look shiny on IG, the content is not actually supporting your business.
🤍 Example B: your editing is fun and engaging, and you get people to stay past the first three seconds…. But you don’t give your audience any reason to go explore more.
Capturing (and retaining) attention isn’t the only thing you should be after.
Objectively “good” content supports your greater marketing funnel…. Not just your “fame“ in the Instagram algorithm.
So before you start screenshotting hook formulas and saving all those video editing techniques…back tf up and ask yourself why you’re creating content in the first place and once you know why you’re creating the thing, you can get to the point really damn fast.
Things to think about:
👀 what’s the goal for this individual post on social??
👀 who you tryna reach and what do those specific people need to hear from you in order for them to take the next logical step??
👀 what actually is the next frickin logical step you want people to take???
👀 and is it CLEAR and easy for people to take that next logical step???
All that? MUCH more important to obsess over FIRST.
Then branch into obsessing about hooks and edits if you must.
