First Georgia Buck//Peach State
I think I revised this story several different times before I got to this point: The Lord provided and a couple minutes before sunset, this solid buck drew his last breath. He marks a litany of firsts for me that I could rattle out, however, he is the first buck that I have been able to take.
He stepped out into the clearing from the right side about a hundred yards out, but I only saw his antlers moving from behind a brush pile. I got down on him as he continued to walk and feed, and let him walk another ten to fifteen yards. As I got my breathing under control, I lined up the shot and squeezed. He keeled over and dropped right where he was standing as I hit him square above the shoulder.
Last night was such a special night for me and I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to hunt these beautiful creatures.
