This warning was issued by the feds for those on Medicare:

Someone you don't know calls, emails, or texts you offering free medical equipment or services. What should you do? Hang up. Delete it. Only you and your doctor should decide what care and services are right for you.

Scammers want your Medicare information so they can bill Medicare for services you don't need — like hospice (end-of-life care), home health care, or durable medical equipment (like a brace or cane).

Hospice scams are particularly harmful. If a scammer signs you up for hospice care without your knowledge, you could lose access to your regular Medicare benefits.

To root out fraud, Medicare has temporarily stopped allowing new home health and hospice agencies from opening. This doesn't affect your care. If you and your doctor decide you need home health or hospice services, you can still get them from existing agencies in your area.

The City of Seaside is aware of odor complaints near the wastewater treatment plant, the estuary, 12th Avenue, and nearby neighborhoods. We understand the odor is unpleasant and disruptive, and City wastewater staff are actively working to reduce it. This is an odor issue. It is not a sewer overflow. Sewage is not entering the river or other waterways. The City has no permit violations related to this issue, and there is no public health concern.

Innovation-Guest Experience-Astoria Underground

Tonight, we honor a group that transformed Astoria’s hidden history into one of the region’s most unforgettable guest experiences. While most people walked the streets above, Jeff Daly saw the stories buried beneath them — forgotten tunnels, historic spaces, and the foundations of a city built on resilience, fishing, fire, and hard work. Alongside partners of the last eight years Chad Gallup and Ray Merritt, Jeff turned that vision into the Astoria Wunderground Experience: part history lesson, part theater, and entirely unique. Through creativity, storytelling, humor, and a deep love for this community, they created an attraction that has connected nearly 20,000 visitors and locals alike to Astoria’s remarkable past!

What began as a simple idea grew into a true community asset. Their innovation wasn’t just about creating a tour — it was about preserving stories, inspiring pride of place, and giving people a new way to experience Astoria. Tonight, we proudly recognize their passion, imagination, and commitment to guest experience.
