Good Morning Waseca!

Tomorrow, September 20th 2025 is the annual Marching Classic Parade, starting at 12:00PM in downtown Waseca. The parade route will be the same as years past with the best viewing area downtown on State St.

There will be a detour for HWY 13 (State St.) so please follow the signs. Please see the map for the HWY 13 detour and parade route.

There will be a lot of people along the parade route and band members in staging areas so please be mindful of that while driving in the area. The parade route will be marked as no parking and will be closed during the parade. We ask that you please follow the detour and posted signs downtown. Our Officers will also be staged along the parade route to help with questions.

Our very own Chief Kris Markeson and retired Chief Penny Vought will be part of the parade this year as “Friends of the Classic” so make sure to wave and say hi!

Good luck to all the competing bands and have fun!

WASECA! SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION NEXT TUESDAY, 9/5!

First things first...you may have heard about a law change in MN which has led some departments to remove their School Resource Officers from their schools, at least temporarily. We have decided that approach is not in the best interest of Waseca students and staff and our SRO, Officer Luiken, will remain assigned to the district as normal. Officer Luiken is very excited to begin her 2nd year as your SRO!

Next, a few reminders about transportation safety:

1. Stop signs on school buses are not suggestions. You must stop for them. The busses have cameras and you will be caught if you disobey them. The bus companies file complaints with us often and we charge each one we can!

2. Please ensure your child has a safe route to school and uses the proper sidewalks, trails and crossings. Significant upgrades have been made to the pedestrian infrastructure along North State Street in the last few years for this exact reason.

3. If you drive your child to school....please mix in some patience with your morning coffee. There will be some confusion, some backups, some delays...and you might even get cut off. The first week can be tough, but it will get smoother. Please extend some grace to others as we are all in a hurry to get to the next place! Remember- the kids are watching us adults to be the positive example.

We wish you the BEST school year yet. We'll see you around!
