Honoring a Hero: Ray Gasper

My father, Ray Gasper, enlisted in the Army at just 17 years old to serve in the European theatre during World War II. Over the course of three years, he bravely fought in five major battles, standing shoulder to shoulder with his fellow soldiers—including his closest friend and battalion brother, Jimmy Wilkerson, who captured this treasured photograph.

Throughout his life, my father never missed a single battalion reunion, continuing to attend them faithfully until he was the last surviving member. Now, at 100 years old, his legacy of courage, loyalty, and quiet strength lives on.

Love you, Dad. I am beyond proud to be your daughter.
