For those of us who have been quietly sitting in our comfort zones of morality believing the problem is because of other people, the blatant racists, self-serving politicians, and dangerously empowered police, it’s time to add our voices to the groundswell. Saying nothing, doing nothing, means we are allowing this blatant disregard for humanity to continue.
It’s time for us to get involved, to do better. It’s difficult to know where to begin, but we’re going to work on these:
.
Learn, read, listen to our black friends and peers, pay attention to where our information is coming from.
Support black owned and operated businesses, support education and mentorship programs for black youth, expand our outreach when looking to fill job openings.
Donate to causes and campaigns working across the country for a sea change.
Vote, vote, vote. Local and state level elections across the country are critical if there’s any hope for systemic changes so we won’t be having this same conversation in another 50 years.
Black lives matter.
