HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!! On July 4, 1776, 250 years ago, our Founding Fathers sacrificed their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to create a new country—the United States of America.
And today, Americans across this great country will celebrate the Declaration of Independence as a nation with fireworks, family barbecues, state fairs, parades, patriotic hymns, readings of the Declaration of Independence, and much more.
Here are truths I cling to on this momentous occasion:
The Declaration of Independence fittingly states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among them are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
I am deeply grateful to our Founding Fathers for the righteous undertaking to grant us liberty, especially with an emphatic inclination on the Lord and the precious gift of life.
I love this great country because God so magnificently created it. In fact, on this Independence Day, we should also remember that our freedom is profoundly precious, bought with the blood, sweat, and courage of heroic Americans who first fought for it as a nation. We should remain perpetually grateful to the men and women of our military who fought and continue to fight so we can live free. Let’s honor their valor and never forget their unending sacrifices.
As Christians, we have joyous reasons to celebrate on the Fourth of July and beyond—our freedom as citizens of the United States—the land of the free and the home of the brave, and our greatest, most treasured freedom, which is in Christ—as it was bought at an incredible price—Christ’s shed blood on Calvary and death on the cross.
You see, there is absolutely no greater liberation than the freedom from sin and death provided by Jesus Christ, with divine direction from our Bible, which is our Christian Declaration of Independence, as it gives us strength for today and hope for tomorrow.
Let’s pray that we not only stand firm in our faith but also, together, spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to impact our nation now and in the future.
What legacy will you leave behind for our next 250 years, especially in a decaying culture that desperately needs Jesus?
I pray fervently that as the United States of America, we continue to fiercely defend religious liberty so that all citizens of this country experience the blessings of this land and true freedom in Christ.
On this Fourth of July, let’s celebrate our country and leverage the opportunity to share what Jesus Christ has done for us—yesterday, today, and forever.
