As the first full week of 2026 gets under way, we wanted to take a moment to reflect back on 2025. We are proud of the work we did this past year with advocates, experts, and leaders across the country who are speaking out, fighting for change. From being on the frontlines advocating for our federal workers, to lifting up doctors who are speaking out to protect science and health care, to amplifying the voices of those taking the Trump administration’s corruption head on, we met the moment in 2025, and we’ll keep up this momentum in 2026.
As we ring in the new year, we’re reflecting on a few standout moments from 2025:
Former Pardon Attorney Lawyer Oyer went from being in the news to leading the news as she spoke out against the Trump administration’s corrupt pardons and abuse of the Department of Justice – reaching over 580K followers on Instagram as a go-to source for breaking it all down.

This past year, federal workers were on the frontlines of the Trump administration’s attacks on union rights and the federal workforce. We saw government departments decimated, collective bargaining rights stripped, and the longest government shutdown in history. And we supported AFGE every step of the way to fight back and keep the pressure on.

2025 marked a year of uncertainty and the unfortunate attempted dismantling of our democracy. But thanks to the power of the American people and the relentless legal resistance being led by Democracy Forward, there is a united fight back against autocratic threats.

2025 started with national tragedy – the mid-air collision of Flight 5342 that killed all 64 people onboard, including two AFA PSA Flight Attendants. The deadliest US air disaster in over 20 years. Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) President Sara Nelson led the charge for aviation safety, from supporting needed reforms and the NTSB investigation of the crash, to sounding the alarm on Congress’ heinous vote to reverse protections put in place following the mid-air crash to fighting for the federal workers who keep air travel safe as they were forced to work without pay. And we were proud to support AFA’s tireless fight and advocacy to protect all Flight Attendants and travelers across this country.
In a year of prevalent medical misinformation coming from our own government – namely under the “leadership” at HHS – Committee to Protect Health Care was a voice of reason, expertise, and credibility. Dr. Rob Davidson and fellow physicians consistently sounded the alarm on the admin’s weaponization of public health, calling out vaccine disinformation and advocating for critical ACA subsidies to be renewed.

And when the Trump administration illegally fired more than 600 federal workers at the CDC during the government shutdown, we made sure the voices of the workers of AFGE 2883 GA – the union representing workers out of the CDC’s Atlanta HQ – were heard as they called out the chaos and distress Trump’s politically-motivated stunt caused in their lives and livelihoods.

AFT Maryland had a milestone year for the state's higher education workers as they successfully secured collective bargaining agreements at four state community colleges – Prince George's, Howard, Frederick, and Hagerstown – a first at all four institutions, in a year where the MD State Legislature expanded collective bargaining rights to community college faculty for the first time since 2021.

Ipas, an international reproductive justice organization, sounded the alarm on Trump’s attacks on global health and reproductive rights around the world all year. As Dr. Musoba Kitui, director of Ipas Africa Alliance, told NPR, Trump’s aid cuts have "starved health systems to a point of desperation."

In a year where Trump and the GOP continued to push partisan redistricting nationwide, Equal Ground was one of the most vocal opposition voices in Florida. Executive Director Genesis Robinson authored two op-eds published in major Florida papers calling out state lawmakers and Governor Ron DeSantis for these partisan pushes.

With public education enduring a full out assault this past year, we were proud to uplift AFT President Randi Weingarten as AFT fought back against heinous attacks on educators and students. We also celebrated the release of Weingarten’s timely NYT bestseller “Why Fascists Fear Teachers” – as well as the voices of public educators across this country who are on the frontlines working everyday to educate and support our next generation.

After voters overwhelmingly passed Prop 139 to enshrine abortion rights in Arizona’s Constitution last year, we were proud to keep up the fight for reproductive freedom for all Arizonans alongside Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona this legislative session – amplifying their advocacy and the urgent need to repeal the 40+ abortion restrictions that remain on the books and are at odds with what voters demanded at the ballot box.

With the rise of AI, tech giants are looking to better one another in the AI race, but Big Tech’s competition is leaving workers behind, misleading consumers, and putting our health at risk. Our team is proud to work with Clarkson Law Firm to hold Big Tech accountable.

This year we fought for workers across the country with the United Auto Workers. From UAW’s strike at GE Aerospace in Cincinnati, Ohio – intense weeks on the picket lines that secured a contract delivering significant gains to workers – to UAW’s fight to keep the Case New Holland (CNH) plant open in Burlington, Iowa, we are keeping the pressure on to protect workers’ jobs and rights across the country.
