“I’ve been thinking a lot about the creative process, specifically on one of the first steps: PREPARATION.
Often times, we get caught up and discouraged in this phase. Launching an ad campaign? Well, of course, you’d want to make sure that your insight and idea launches off with a plan that is defined, particular, measurable, and goal specific.
However, we tend to get lost or bogged down in the preparation. I’ve seen countless projects start with such an electrifying moment of inspiration, but never take off because of a need and want to make sure every single thing is perfectly prepared and accounted for at launch. We often forget; creating is chaotic. As much as we want to prepare, we should always leave space for the chaos and run towards to fire. Not everything needs to be perfect. The most beautiful projects come from teams or individuals willing to step into the chaos and act on inspiration.
So, let this be a reminder. Go out, let the heart be inspired, and take a sip of that cafecito and start creating. Remember to live. The best ideas, as the old cliche goes, come when you aren’t looking for them. Don’t neglect the preparation, but don’t let the preparation stifle your inspiration and creativity. ”
