Rekord Structures unveiled an expansion to its Washington, GA campus Thursday afternoon, with an open house and dedication of its on-site residential village. The town homes will be available to visiting vendors, as well as workers from other Rekord sites in the US and abroad. Washington, Georgia’s city council reconvened after a two-month break, with the hope that a bitter conflict between Mayor Bill deGolian and Councilman Nate Cullars might have cooled down. Instead, Cullars inserted a laundry list of controversial items on the September agenda - including removal of the Confederate monument from the town square - items which the Mayor removed in his substitute agenda. Washington-Wilkes hosted Chattahoochee County in round one of the state class A playoffs last Friday. The two teams had met previously in the 2017 playoffs, with W-W winning 34-0. The 2019 rematch was played on a rain-soaked field, with the home Tigers leading only 7-6 at the half. The weather forced both teams to rely on their ground games, with the visitors managing to score the winning TD in the final two minutes, ending the Tigers' centennial football season, 12-7.

Washington-Wilkes hosted 2018 7-A champions Greene County in the final regular season game November 1. The W-W Tigers ran scored three times before the rival Greene Tigers were able to answer back, and held a 35-7 lead at the half. W-W was outscored 14-7 in the second half, while allowing many substitutes to get playing time. Final: 42-14.
