January of 2017, just a few months before my 34th birthday I started looking online for business opportunities. I wasn’t on social media a lot, in fact I was hardly ever on. One night after a long day of mowing lawns I was scrolling through Facebook. I saw an video ad of 3 guys walking on a beach, discussing how they launched a business online, they now have the freedom to travel the world and work off their laptop and smartphones. They talked about hosting a live webclass where they would discuss what they do and how they do it. The webclass was free so I just put in my name and email to save my spot for their next live webclass.
I have never been scammed online so my first initial thought wasn’t, “well I hope this isn’t a scam.” Because all I was doing was going to live webclass. I had nothing to lose and a ton to gain. There was a link on the page I signed up on where I could send a friend request to one of the guys who was going to host the live webclass. So, I sent him a request and to my surprise he reached out to me. Introduced himself and said, “See you Monday night.” Come Monday night, it’s 8pm and I start watching this webclass. I have heard tons of people say that they have watched numerous webclasses and have been scammed or burned by so many of these things. Well for me, this was the first online opportunity I had ever looked into and the first webclass I had ever attended, so I had no idea what to expect. But the webclass was really cool, it was interactive so we could ask questions throughout. Me, not knowing anything about online business or running a business of my own, I probably asked 20 questions over the 2 hours. They laid out everything. Who they were, where they came from, what they do and how they do it. I had very little knowledge of the online space at the time, things were just making sense. At the end, there was an offer to join their team and community for $99 and that $99 had a 14-day money back guarantee. So being as intrigued as I was, I paid the $99 to join because I knew if I didn’t like it or something didn’t seem right, I could get my money back.
I joined their team/community and was introduced in as a new member. My mentor coming in was a guy Rob Brautigam. Didn’t know the guy, but I just listened to him for 90 minutes and I knew that he had the results I wanted, was living the life I wanted and was making the money I wanted to be making. I had a feeling I was in good hands. Being almost 34 at the time I wasn’t looking to travel the world, would it have been nice, sure. But I had 2 kids, a fiancée and I was looking for a way to make a full-time income online and be able to work from home. I started the training. I finish the training at 2am because I started it right after the webclass was over when I joined. I fall asleep and wake up at 6am to go to work. But I jumped out of bed because I was excited about what I was going to do when I got home from work, which was have a coaching call with Rob.
I get home from work and I have to do one thing first. I have to tell my fiancée that I charged $99 on a credit card to join this online business opportunity. But I didn’t yet. I told her I had to run to grocery store and I left. Me going to the grocery store was me getting on my coaching call. I have a 45-minute call with my mentor Rob and he breaks down everything for me. I am pumped, I am jacked and I am ready to go. After talking with Rob my last hurdle before I could really start everything was to get affiliated. I had to get affiliated with the company who pays us in order to get distribution rights so I can get paid. This is where talking with the fiancée comes into play. At the time, I didn’t have any savings, my credit score was terrible and there was no way I would get approved for a business loan. I needed her help. I tell her the scoop and she quickly said “Hell no, absolutely not. No way.” Over the next 5 days, I am bugging the crap out of her about this, I just had the feeling in my gut that this was it. I just had to make her see what I was seeing. My fiancée and I, watched the webclass together, went through the first few training lessons and at the end I asked her again, “Can you please help me, help us.” She insisted on making a bet, if this was truly a scam or it didn’t work, I would work 3 jobs until I was 75 even after I paid back the $9600 I was going to invest in this. We got 3 credit cards that combined to make the total we needed and I got affiliated. So, I used the banks money to invest $9600 into starting my own business online and hadn’t spent 1 penny out of pocket.

Think about this, if you wanted to start a business wherever you live, what would it cost you? Take the thing your passionate about the most or the thing you thought about one time and said, “It would be cool if I could start a business with this.” How much would it cost you, ballpark? Brick and Mortar lease or purchase of building, completely remodeling the building, inventory, workers, bills, paying people…ect. I paid $9600, for any brick and Mortar business you are looking at over 100k easily and you wouldn’t have the mentorship or guidance of someone who has done it and done it successfully.
I invest, I continue on with training, I am at every mastermind and asking 100’s of questions. 7 days after watching a live webclass that I knew nothing about I run my first ad on Facebook. I was so pumped up and ready to crush it. Then my first month passes, I made $2300 while working part time at night because at this time I still had my full-time job. Month 2, I made $3500. My 9th week of running my online business I quit my full-time job. I fired my boss, because I knew if I was able to put more time into my online business, I would make more money then I would at my full-time job. My 4th month online I made 5K, I was in shock. I made more money in a month staying at home and running my online business then I did working 40-50 hours a week at my old job.
Then month 5 hits, it was the first time I got emotional. My 5th month of running my online business, which I had no prior experience in I had my first 10K month. In fact, I had my first ever 5-figure month of my life and it was all me. I was putting in the work, continuing to learn and I freaking made 10K in one month. So, in 1 month I made more than my entire initial investment. The guess what happened??? My fiancée joined. The “Hell no, absolutely not, you are not doing this” woman, said “Hell yeah, I am in". She saw my success, she noticed my attitude change, my mindset change and knew that if I was doing this successfully, she could also.
I am now 39 months into running my own business, online, from home. I am now running my own team who I am coaching and mentoring like Rob did when I first joined. I get told I am crazy all the time or I am trying to scam people or why do I have to invest money to start. And I think to myself, which still scares me to this day, where would I be if I had that type of mindset and I didn’t take the leap to do this. F**k, I really don’t know. I just remember being miserable, living in a small apartment and living less than paycheck to paycheck.
I will leave you with this. Yes, there is bad stuff on the internet, yes there are bad people on internet but if you do your homework on whatever you are wanting to start up or try, you will not get burned. I run my own business on the internet and I work from home. Knowing what I know now and making what I am making now, that $9600 I initially invested, I would invest it twice over. The only way I got to where I am today is, I had to take the leap.
